I really like the rear "bumperettes" on a 69, especially the tall ones... am I the only one??
But I look at all these 69's for sale on eBay and many do not have them.

What's with that??

I can't recall where, but read an article that stated the '69 Z/28 had the taller rear bumperettes because the rear ride height of this model put the horizontal bumper height slightly lower than the federal safety requirement called for - hence why the bumperettes extend above the horizontal bumper as well as below on the Z. Don't know if there is any grain of truth in that, maybe someone here can confirm/deny?

You will also see a lot of '67 & '68s without a front bumper...
You can include me in that group....I have always removed the front bumper on a 67 or 68's that I have owned over the years unless it was flip car. My 67 I have now....I did not remove the front bumper for a while because I could not get the bolts loose to do it very quickly :D.....sucker was stuck tehre so it stayed for a few years until one day it was project to remove it.

I do like the deluxe or optional bumper gaurds (rubber strip in them) but I think they look best on the more stock looking/appearing Camaro.

I think ALL of the cars had the short bumperettes that extend down either side of the license plate on the back. The tall bumper guards were optional for front and rear, except for the aforementioned Z/28's.

Actually bumperettes is typically used to descibe the standard rear bumper vertical pieces. Bumper guards are the tall ones you mention. Rear bumper guards were mandatory on HD rear suspension option, so every Z/28 would have come from the factory with them. Front and rear bumper guards were optional on any model. I like the tall ones on the rear myself. Both for the look and for the fact they are correct for performance model first gen.

As far as opnions go this stuff is all subjective. Most people don't like the tall bumper guards, I love them, but only on the rear. But I do respect the decision of those that put them on the front. Car looks really correct for the era with them.
