I AM LOOKING FOR A COPY OF A WINDOW STICKER FROM A 1969 CAMARO. I AM TRYING TO MAKE A DUPLICATE FOR MY PACECAR. ALSO, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE CODE AB OR BA AFTER THE RPO CODE MEANS?

I AM UNSURE IF CHEVY LISTED THE RALLY WHEEL, CONSOLE, TACH, AND SPOILER ON THE STICKER. I HAVE THE CODES AND THERE IS A CHARGE FOR EACH OF THESE SO MY GUESS IS THAT THEY WOULD HAVE.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME?

THANK YOU FELLOW CAMARO HEADS!!!

The letter codes mean something different for each RPO. Basically the first letter is the revision to the RPO. All RPO's start out at A revision. Then throughout the year different things might be added or deleted to the RPO. All RPO's on a 69 window sticker start with the number 5. Take for example the Z28. If it was 5Z28AA when the Chambered exhaust was deleted in November of 68 as part of the Z28 option the new revision became 5Z28BA. Major RPOs like the Z28 almost never have a change in the second letter becasue most of the components within the RPO are unaffected by other minor RPOs.

The second letter indicates a change in the basic option due to some other option or feature of the car. For example the A01 tinted glass option might be 5A01AA for a coupe, and 5A01AB for a convertible because the quarter windows in a convertible are differenct than a coupe's and there is no back glass in the convertible. The second code may also be tied to different vendors of the basic component of certain options, like the vinyl material used in a vinyl top.

These codes are tied to the codes on your build sheets. Chances of you getting close to the right codes on a repro window sticker are essentially zero unless you copy it from an identically equipped car made on the same day as yours.

Wheres your Convertible top/ power convertible top codes? 5C05xx, and 5C06xx. (the xx's arent the proper codes), how about power front disc brakes (J50/52) although this may be part of the Z27 package and not listed separately.

Console code is wrong for a 69. They don't end in AA, or AB in 69.
M40 is the code for a TH400 transmission, wheres your engine code?

Paint codes?

Power disc included with SS. Trans would be listed as M40.

There are at least 17 ECLs for Z22; DT and EW are used for Z11s, don't know difference. Does car have power top? Tinted glass? Tilt wheel? Endura bumper?

The engine is not called out separately from the SS packages, unless it is a big block.

In addition to (or instead of) I'd say some of the window sticker codes should be:

5A01AB SOFT-RAY TINTED GLASS 32.65
5B93AA DOOR EDGE GAURDS 4.25
5C05FA CONVERTIBLE TOP/WHITE .00
5C06AH POWER CONVERTIBLE TOP 52.70
5D55NA CENTER CONSOLE 53.75
5N34AA SPORT STYLED STEERING WHEEL 34.80
5N40HA POWER STEERING 94.80
5VE3AA SPECIAL FRONT BUMPER 42.95
5Z22DM RALLY SPORT EQUIPMENT 131.65 (COULD BE DN)
5ZL2DA SPECIAL DUCTED HOOD 79.00
5720BA ORANGE VINYL/HOUNDSTOOTH TRIM .00
5911CC 50-50 DOVER WHITE .00

U16 tachometer would not be called out separately from U17 special instrumentation. If you got U16 alone you also must have the center fuel gauge. I don't know the RPO for this gauge.

Steve,
If you find a typewriter even close to the font for the window sticker, you let me know. Heck, I would even take a true type font for MS Word that is close.

DAN

I WORK AT A DEALERSHIP AND WE USE AN OLD ADP PRINTER THAT PRINTS OUT OUR REPORTS ON GREENBAR PAPER. I AM GOING TO TRY AND RUN SOME SAMPLES ON IT. IT USED A DOT MATIX STYLE PRINT VERY SIMILAR. THIS PRINTER IS 25 YEARS OLD. I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS.

Mark C,
I thought that if you ordered 4 speed, and U16, and did not order D55 console, you got center fuel gauge by defalt.

If you ordered auto and U16 and did not order console, you would get column shift. Would you get center fuel gauge in the upper window of the bezel, and gear indicator in the lower window? Has anyone ever seen a two window bezel?

I guess you would use the same bezel if you ordered a clock, a tach, an auto, and no console.

You started out with column shift with an automatic and had to order D55 console to have a floor shift car. In this condfiguration the gear position indicator sits in it's own housing on the top of the steering column, it's not in the dash panel itself, so you still had an empty center section in the dash.

You could concievable order U16 only with or without the console, and had to get the center fuel gauge in either case. If you also wanted a clock you got U35 and it was floor maounted if you didn't get a console, or mounted on the front of the console inplace of the U17 gauges. The floor mouted one looked like a tachometer and it was srewed to the top of the trans tunnel.

I don't beleive that the center fuel gauge is part of the U16 option but it was a necessary option if you wanted just the tach. The center fuel gauge is not in the assembly manual and there is no reference to it in any of the RPO listings. The Tach is in the assembly manual though.

Mark,
Item 2 on the RPO U16 page in the assembly manual calls out gage assembly. That indicates to me that it is part of the package.

Also, the lens assembly lists two part numbers, one called "column mounted" and one called "RPO M35, M38, M40. I suspect "Column mounted" refers to column shift 3 speed. The separate bezel number for auto and center fuel makes me believe there is(at least in theory) a two window bezel.

Some of the Smith-Corona typewriters/word processers (portable type) have round print wheels that can be changed for different print styles.they have one that is almost exact to the original style. Unfortunatly I can't find the name of the print style used, but if you look around i'm sure you can find it.

Brickyard, all that i need to complete my clone window sticker is the dealership number from the local dealer in 1969. guess i'll make one up. glad to be of help. i was like you, unsure of how to list the options. jack
