Todd, Mine looks just like yours start out!

You guys make it sound easy. I see your point that is would be. Did you find that you need to weld in the angle iron for support or will it be OK without.

Sorry for the elemetary question but how to you measure and what is the refernence points. The ground? where is it best to have the jack stands located to minmize flex? I guess the front and back of the rockers?

Thanks for you help.
Your best bet is to take several digital prints, and then take a tape and measure several reference points.... write them on the digital photos themselves. The most important is the location where the subframe mount holes are. When you take the seat boxes out, if you are carefull removing them from the inner rockers (use a spotweld drill), then they are very easy to get back in the original position. You will have all the reference points you need. I simply repositioned mine back on the inner rockers exactly where I removed them and everything went fine.

One thing I did on my installation....

I locked the wheels on my rotisserie so it wouldn't move, and I used ratchet straps to tie down all four corners to keep it level. I figured that way, it would eliminate any chance of warpage. Must have worked, as mine shows no sign of any.

Elevation wise, you can only install the floor pan correctly. If you weld it back to the flange at the toe-boards, and trunk pan the same as it was, the rest will follow. Your rear frame rails will help dictate that as well.

Good luck. You CAN do it, and you should be satisfied with the finished project.

Thanks for all the tips.
I will let you know how it goes or you may here from me with more question if I run into any problems.

I just pulled the tranny out last weekend and will finish cutting old pan out and hopefully start aligning new pan in this weekend.

I am stil trying to figure out best reference points to measure before I cut it out. Any hints beside subframe mounting point?

Thanks for checking.

Dan,

Before I removed my original floorpan, I actually drilled four 1/16" alignment holes. Two in the toeboards just ahead of the seam where the floorpan attaches, and two in the trunk pan, just behind where it connects to the floorpan. I took measurements front to back, side to side, and diagonally both directions. You could run self tapping tech screws in these holes to hook your tape to. Make yourself a diagram and tape it to the inside of the lid of your toolbox, or somewhere you won't lose it.

I made sure when I reattached my floorpan (temporarily) that all those dimensions lined up prior to welding, plus checked them several times while welding. Nothing even tried to move, inspite hooking a strap to the floorpan to pull it into position to install where I wanted it. Holes that small are very easy to fill with the welder when you are finished.

Check your side-side on your rockers repeatedly as well.

Don't for get to locate and remove the two bolt clips attached to the bottom of your floorpan to attach your brake and fuel lines also. On the inside, your seat braces will need removed and reinstalled.

Let's see some photos!

John,
My new pan includes the clips and rear seat braces.

Thanks for the hints I will take pics and post soon.

Are you sure the clips underneath for the brake and fuel lines are included?

WOW! Long delay but I hade some MAJOR home improvements issues that side track me from this project.

Just start back last weekend with patching some of the toe panels. I am ready to start installing floor pan.

New question. I tried to put the pan is with the subframe still in place and could not get it in. I have the car on a lift and tried from underneath. Is this possible? or do I have to remove the subframe? I have very limited garage space and was trying aviod removing subframe since I have no place to put it once it is off.

I think I read sometime ago in this forum that you can get it through winshield opening??? is this possible? or am I stuck with removing subframe?

Thanks in advanced for any advice.

If you are removing the upper dash panel and cowl assembly, you can fit it through the windshield. Otherwise, as I did mine, you can slide it through the trunk opening if your quarters and trunk floor are removed. If you could describe what your car looks like now and what panels are still intact, that would help us. Better yet... post a pic or two.

By the way, my brother lives in Winter Springs too. I live directly across the state on the West coast.

Everthing is inplace except floor pan. Frame rails, trunk pan, truck braces, kick panel, cowl, and dash, is all in place. Steering clumn is out. Subfram still bolted to top of Cowl panel. Sorry no pictues yet since at work now. Can post some tonight.
I measure windshield opening and dash and I do not think I can get it in past the dash to lower it into place.

I think you will find that the sub frame needs to come out to put a full floor in. I tried the windshield method, but as stated if dash is in, it will not fit. Only 4 bolts to get subframe out, then you can just raise the floor up from underneath. These whole floors are one of the replacement parts that fit nicely.

Thanks, that is what I thought, I will pull the subframe off, I have to pull it off anyways eventually and will just have to roll it back under once floor pan is installed.

I'm wrestling with the various means to fix all the holes in my floor as well. If I could just cut the whole thing out and drop a 1-piece in there, I'd do it. But I'm a rookie and not sure what happens to the structural rigidity/alignment when you take the whole floor out. Seems to me like the frame rails and rocker panels would hold things in place while you drop the new floor in, but what do I know?

For reference, I'm working on a 67 convertible and whatever work I do is going to be in the driveway with the car fully assembled and on its wheels.
I also a fist timer. I am doing a 69 Camaro convertible, Probably should have done a complete floor pan but found it easier to do 1/2 full pans and well to the extra convertible supports as I go along. keeping everything lined up. I left sub frame on also so far so good good luck
