Until now I just didn't get the Orange thing? I think now I have new appreciation for the "Hugger" hue. Now officially converted. Great job can't wait to see it finished.

Thanks Andy, Everyone,

I may be getting ahead of myself some, but here are some photos of the carpet installation as it progresses, and the fuel tank installed. I hope to have everything but the engine and trans buttoned up soon.

Fuel tank, and wiring is in. Almost ready to finish the back half of the car.

Trunk is all but finished. Still have to figure out how the trunkmat is supposed to be fitted near the latch support.

Well, another weekend past and a few more parts installed. I am glad I purchased the lion's share of these parts right after I bought the car. If I had to buy all of this now, I would have to put the project on hold again.

Wow John the interior is looking stunning so far, just like a brand new car and great attentio to detail. This is shapping up to be one serious car. One of my fave's for sure. can't wait to see it complete!

I have seen John's car in person, THE PAINT JOB IS PERFECT! My dad and me used to look at cars at big shows and quietly try to find flaws in the paint and body work. I have looked this beautiful orange car over everywhere and it is flawless. It will be second to none on fit and finish. Once again, congratulations.

Well,

I got home from work tonight and there was a few parts left here by the UPS man, so I decided to spend my evening throwing a few more parts at the car...

I may get up early tomorrow and try to finish the last couple wires under the dash, the oil line, and maybe start attaching the door panels. I am running out of work to do behind the firewall. If I had exhaust and the rear spoiler, short of the front and rear glass, I would pretty much be finished from the firewall back.

Thanks for all the positive comments and the kind words of encouragement from each of you....

Well, spent most of sunday in a wrestling match installing my Deluxe door panels... and must say, I am very pleased with the outcome. I could have just thrown these on and been okay, but once again, I over-analyzed everything till I got them as close to perfect as I could.

I DO NOT recomend purchasing the @#%E%^ Junk windlaces from the aftermarket. I bought these, and paid dearly for them I might add, only to find out they were never going to fit my application to suit me. If anyone has a spare set of black windlace they are interested in selling.... I may be interested.

Now, If only I knew what the original grommet for the oil line looked like, and where to find it.... And if I had my courtesy light harness, I would be finished with everything inside but the console and shoulder harnesses. Looks like I am going to have to start building my engine soon......

John

You've got it lookin' sweet.... and I've got to ask you how you found centering the new door panels onto the door shell. Was there wiggle room or do they land right into place? It's been a while since I have worked with those push-in panel clips and cups. I am concerned with how much jamb and sill (body)color shows through when sitting in the interior. Yours looks awesome! Nice work.

I was looking at your update and thinking about the door panels and windlace, and you answered the windlace question I had. Now for the door panels where did you get them from? The interior looks awesome. Nice work.

Thanks Guys,

I bought my door panels from Lutty's Chevy in Cheswick Pa. They came in Al Knoch boxes, so I am not sure if that is who made them or not. The door panels really had no "wiggle room" except for what I made in them. I actually had to slightly enlarge a few of the holes for the clips to slide closer to the edges of the panels. They were close, but took considerable patience to get them to fit that well. The passenger side panel sits just slightly tighter against the dash, but I am out of wiggle room on it.

Save your door lock bezels.... The aftermarket.... Well, they are junk too. Also, they are a smaller diameter than the originals, and the lock knob hangs up in them. I made a tool to compress them into the foam deep enough to bend the tabs over on the back side. It really makes a difference how they look if you get them pressed in deep enough.

Windlaces......!%$$@#^!!! Save your money and find originals. I am still looking for an original set for my car.

Freak,

Checked out your build this morning. I must say your car is gonna be killer! I love watching these builds from this deep in.
