I am working on my 69 camaro coupe. I am in the process of replacing the complete quarter, outer wheelhouse panel, and trunk drop off panel. I have the complete quarter and outer wheelhouse removed. My problem is that I am having a problem with fitting the outer whellhouse panel. I can get the panel fitted properly in the front lower rocker area but at the rear I am struggling to get it to match up with the inner at the rear and the trunk drop off panel. I purchased the panel from the National Parts Depot. If there is anyone that can provide any info on my problem would be great. I just cant get the panel high enough at the rear to match up the tab with the hole in it to match the same tap on the inner wheelhouse panel. The front edge of the drop off panel is know where close to fitting with the rear of the outer wheelhouse. help! Thanks

A picture would help bigtime... but here's a few suggestions to try...

First-- did you move the inner wheel house at all or is it in the factory position still?

Make sure the height is correct on the outer wheel house.

Check to see if it is clocked correctly-- meaning, the front end is tucked far enough into the outer rocker panel. Sometimes you will need to clamp on a locking plier to the lip and gently tap it down further into the rocker. Once that's in correctly, lock it in with a screw or cleco or locking plier... then move to the top of it and set the height. Then lock that in. Then move to the rear end of it for a check. Once you think you have it, leave it in, and test-fit the quarter panel to check the wheel openings match up straight across the top especially. That's where clocking it into position becomes important.

I will say that after tackling this chore on my '69, installing the wheel house on a '68 is MUCH easier just because of the shape alone. (rounded at the top) instead of flat. Post up a pic of the rear where it meets the drop off. That would help us. I had some fitting issues there too and ended up trimming it up to make it look right. Sometimes the manufacturers leave extra metal on them for trimming and adjusting that must be trimmed back. Hope this gives you some help...
