Going to Spokane to look at a Yellow 69 rs/ss. Lets see if I can describe car a little. 1 repaint original color Daytona Yellow, I think color was called. Ran Vin. & Cowl. Is a Cali car, deluxe black interior, V8, automatic, 12 bolt car. Car was bought out of a collection somewhere. 100,000 miles not restored just a driver. He believes it still has most of original drive train. Pulling numbers now. Think car still on craigslist, Seattle. Price is pretty steep 40ish. Wadda you all think? I'm looking somewhere in 30's if it checks out good. His quote, I could detail out and paint underneath floors etc. but rather leave as is to hide nothing.

Hey Greg,

Since you are in Washington (me too), then it shouldn't be too long of a drive unless you are doing the West to East trek, although should see a lot of beauty in the fall colors.

Very difficult to pin down a value range from the sparse description and lack of pictures. Is the motor the original 350 or a 396? Good to verify the 12 bolt is a posi traction. Really comes down to your expectation and discovery of the quality of the paint finish, all panel alignment/functionality, lack of RUST and prior collision damage, operation of the windows, what electrical if any is inoperative, are the RS headlight doors and backup lights operational, any information regarding upkeep and rebuild of the drivetrain? Does the motor start and run smoothly without odd noise or tail pipe smoke, does it have the console gauge package, and how nice is the interior? How nice does the suspension handle on a test drive? Keep in mind that Daytona Yellow is an expensive paint and some will apply school bus yellow as a cheap alternative so would be nice if the seller has the paint can to document the color.

Best of success in your search.

Charlie

Whatever you pay will be too much. He is in business to make money not friends.

I have seen worse cars for more money. Looks like a nice car to me pending some underside pics. I could sleep nights owning it. But then again I don’t care about survivor numbers matching stuff. :grin2: I place value in quality body, paint and mechanicals etc.

If you buy from a dealer there is usually a premium associated with it but after all he has to make money đź’°.

You can really spot stuff like trunk bumpers from those pictures? I think that's awesome. Ok, I agree dealer will want premium price and its easy to walk away if car isn't what I'm looking for or my expectations aren't meet. Not that kid anymore that's going to over pay. Yep, will be traveling west to east and it is a nice LONG drive. 5 plus hours. Also curious about rest of his cars. But you never know until you look! And I have been looking for 2 yrs with nothing in my garage. My garage stall is filling up with junk, it needs a car in there.

The rubber bumpers are a easy spot because the mount on the trunk not the tail pan.

Not a bad looking car. From a dealer obviously over priced but never hurts to look. You can always make an offer and if it doesn’t work walk away.

Personally I choose to stay away from dealers like the plague

The lack of droop at the upper front valance/fenders is
quite impressive. The left rear quarter to tail panel looks
funky compared the right side. The right side quarter
looks quite sharp to me but it could be the camera angle.
Overall a very nice looking car. Like Don said there will
be a dealer premium cost but I'm sure you expect that.
Trunk lid bumper thing is weird. I can't think of a reason
to do that unless they're covering a hole.

If its an original drivetrain 69 RS/SS with POP and not rusted out underneath its in the upper $30K and getting close to $40K.
I like yellow cars and I think this car looks pretty good from what I see. Some minor things to correct, but it looks like something worth checking out.

Like the Deluxe Interior with the Comfort Weave Seat Covers, Deluxe Door Panels and the Woodgrain Dash. Appears may have the Deluxe seat belt buckles although not certain from the pictures.

This model doesn't have the Dash Tachometer nor the Console Gauges which could be added if desired.

Best in your search, examination and negotiations should you decide to buy it.

Keep us posted.

Do you have a truck and trailer?

You guys are the bomb! Noticing that stuff from just a few pictures. Made it over and am just down the street, hooking up at 10:00 to look at his cars. I'll keep you posted on results. Price wise 35 includes tax my best price if it checks out good condition. Looked at similar cars in 45-50 price restored. Its twin, exactly same but with stick 33 & a nice RS that was all there in drive train & interior very good condition but had a 20ft paint job with very poor quality work that was 34. Plus misc. restore & overpriced junk projects.

Whats that old saying about putting lipstick on a pig. That would apply here to a certain extent. Didn't get into running gear and number match stuff, that would be another weekend and putting it on hoist. It's definitely a survivor I believe he called it with lipstick or a fair paint job. Looks like rust in typical camaro spots, lower front fender drive side, guessing passenger same if you poked around. Both sides under rear side louvers showed bondo repair = rust probably. Rear window panel along bottom of window bondo, line along trim all crooked, It stood out. Misc. blemishes that had an attempt at fixing but really drew your eye to them. Small oil leak in rear seal or front trans seal area, saw while laying on floor looking underneath. would be a good start for a restoration project, but way overpriced for that. Showed him some of the spots I noticed and he looked at them. I'm guessing he would take an offer. but the 15-20 I'm thinking would be a NO! I'm sure someone out there will eventually pick it up. He did have some interesting cars though, half dozen other camaros, half dozen misc. big block early Chevelles 69 through early 70's. Hemi Challenger and so on. Still on the hunt for the right elusive Camaro.

I have to admit that one fooled me.
