Update:

My engine builder called today and said that I could pick up my engine today. He reworked the heads, checked the bearings and installed a performance camshaft with new lifters, pushrods, oil pump, Holley 302-3 pan, etc. The oil leak was coming from the back cover where po had tried to put a new gasket on and didn't get it lined up right. Can you guys think of any questions that I should ask or anything that I should look for when I pick up my engine? He is about an hour away from me and I'm trying to prepare before I go over there. I forgot to ask him on the phone about the tune but my wiring harness from PSI won't be here until Wednesday. So I guess I will take the whole car to him once I get the engine installed. I'm sure I'm forgetting all kinds of stuff. Feel free to fill me in. Thank you.

Hey Guys,

I got my LS1 engine back from my builder and trying to get everything sorted out to start install. He put new cam, lifters, springs, oil pump, water pump, gaskets, OP sending unit, knock sensors, push rods, gaskets, misc. hardware. The cam specs are:

duration @ .050 intake exhaust
227 234

lobe seperation 113

stock 241 heads reworked, hooker long tube headers. what are your opinions? thanks for your time.

let me know if I need to post more cam specs. thanks.

Thanks for the advice. Keeping my eyes and ears open for some local 243s'. Fortunately, my engine builder said that he would swap the cam back out for me if I thought it wasn't agressive enough and not charge me any labor. Good to have good friends who mechanic for a living. So, if this swap goes as smooth as I'm hoping and everything lines up and the motor runs good, I'm sure the "more horsepower gremlins" will rear their ugly heads soon enough. Isn't that the way it works. I may be wrong, but I'm thinking a totally stock LS1 would be a huge improvement over the anemic 250 h.p. carbed 350 engine that was in it. I will post my thoughts soon enough, hopefully in the next week or two.

What intake are you running? Stock LS1? You'll definitely be better off than you were, but you could easily be over 400hp for about $1000. I just finished my 3rd swap and have lots of parts you were needing, but looks like you found them all.

Keep me in mind Jeff. Always in the market for better performance parts than what I have. If you get some spare time, shoot me a PM with what you have to offer and I may be interested. I've got a bunch of spare parts from an '02 Z28 that I will let go cheap or trade. We may be able to help one another out. Thanks.

Moderators,

Please feel free to move to the appropriate section. Thanks.

How can I up my image limit because I have a bunch of pics of the motor mounts and the way the motor sits in the car that may be able to help someone else out the way this forum has helped me? Thanks. :grin2:

Now I know why everyone lowers their cars after an LS swap. My car looks like a jet about to take off! I don't know what the weight difference is between an LS motor and a sbc, but it's enough to make a heck of a difference. My front fender lip is sitting at 30" from the ground! Don't even want to show it to anyone until I get the front end down some. I guess it's time to hit the archives again to find out how to lower front end. No matter which method I choose, there are pros' and cons of each and that doesn't make my decision making any easier. So, my ? is, what is the most recent, up-to-date, popular way to drop the front end of my 1968 convt. after LS swap? Car will be used for pleasure once or twice a week. Thank You.

Richard

It will settle some after driving. I Have not experienced any raise in ride height after pulling SBC and dropping in LS engines.
