I am a first Generation guy, so I have a question for the 2nd Gen guys. I had the opportunity today and executed on the opportunity to purchase a 1973 Type LT camaro. Its loaded to the gills, with AC, PS, PB, loaded gauge package and everything works, etc, etc. It has these strange portal type windows in the rear seating area (top of Rear Quarter panel). It has been babied and garaged its whole life. Purchased new in 1973 in NoCal and moved to Colorado in 1981. All records including the original purchase order were included. it has 54K original miles on it. Overall great condition with no rust. I now own it, but don't know if its valuable or if its something i can modify. Can anyone tell me about the Type LT camaros? I am trying to get educated on this car. I rarely leave anything stock, so don't want to accidentally ruin something that might be rare and valuable.

The port hole windows sound like a modification , I have never seen or heard of one either. I could be wrong though. The quarter sail is structural to the best of my knowledge.

I always thought LT was as you describe. We always said Luxury Touring back in the day. Don't know if it is the real name or not.

The portal windows were not a factory offered option. Would of had to have been added by a dealer or previous owners.

That's what I was thinking. I would like to see pictures of the ware the inside was trimmed out. I have seen those windows in many vans back in the day.

Well Tom, you can get in the back of mine if it's ever done. LOL. Getting out will be fun to watch and we won't be doing 120 MPH. Ha ha
I remember high school senior year driving to Florida for spring break with five of us in my 76 Camaro. Me and four of my buddies. They would draw straws on who had to ride on the hump. Still can't believe we endured 11 hours of that madness down there an back. Young and dumb. ;)
