Hi, I was looking tonight at my clutch and brake pedal assembly.
I have a mechanical clutch with rod end linkage , clutch pedal has no noticeable lateral free play and position is correct on the stop bushing. It does not rattle if I move it or action it by hand.
The brake pedal is also in correct position on the solenoid switch and like in the assembly manual I have a little free play.
If I move the brake pedal by hand in the free play position , up and down or right and left it rattles. Maybe it is the switch, which is very old, maybe it comes from above bushing (3). The pin (4) is secured with extra thin rubbers both sides of the pedal arm (5) that I added previously to prevent the rattle noise.
I see that the brake pedal can easily be moved laterally about 1/3" I would say or a little less than 10 mm.
Is that normal?
FYI I never removed the pedals assembly on my camaro and it looks like it sits there since a loooong time. The clutch pedal looks pretty straight, however when driving I feel like I can stop the rattling sound (when it comes during transition, not constant) by slightly pushing on the clutch pedal.
As both pedals are linked and the clutch pedal is straight, new linkage, without free play I'd like to work now on the brake pedal.
