Hi all. Sending the car to the body shop next week, and having the trunk lid repaired and re-sprayed from a hack job rear spoiler install by the PO.

I'm trying to decide whether to put the spoiler back on or leave it off. I know that the spoiler was typically not available in '67, but does it balance out the car a little better?

Opinions are appreciated!
 
Put the spoiler back on the car, they look silly without one.
 
I say NO rear spoiler! I do however like the front spoiler on them.
 
Coupes without the spoiler just look strange to me. Yes, every car has one at shows, but there's a reason for that, they look good.

Convertibles I think look just fine without one.
 
I somewhat agree. My '67 RS 427 has both cowl induction hood and spoiler, but my second '67 RS with a 327 will be without the cowl induction hood and rear spoiler for a cleaner look.

I love that shade of red, BTW.
 
There was a time when I would say that every Camaro should have a spoiler. That said my last 69 I had before my Z had the cowl hood, front spoiler and no rear spoiler. I had that car for thirteen years before I got stupid and sold it. I have put many a spoiler on and the last 67 I did I tried to talk the guy out of putting it on. The car realy does have good lines and do look good without. My Z came with one , so I am leaving it on. I say leave it off, see how it looks and if you don't like it then put it on.
 
Other cars have an integral "mini" spoiler as part of their original decklid design that enhances the bodyline flow very well. Spoilers look OK on Camaros but appear too much as an afterthought. I have one and don't hate it but don't love it. Some builders fab them and they are very subtle and an integral part of the body. I think the Camaro is lacking slightly in that area compared to other cars in regard to spoiler design.
 
I like my newest rendition of my car without the rear spoiler. However, I like it both ways.
That being said
I drove my 68 over 135k miles in the last 12 years, with a rear spoiler. Tons of thumbs up, daily.
I redid the entire car this winter/ spring, and took off the rear spoiler, all the rest is the same. I have now driven it 2500 + miles. Significantly less thumbs up without the rear spoiler.

BTW, the holes in my deck lid were not sealed well enough. Water got into the rear of the lid from washing the car and rusted the bottom of the lid. Make sure you seal the holes well.
 
When I had my 68 painted, I had the original hood and trunk lid painted along with a NOS Cowl Hood and NOS Trunk Lid drilled out for a spoiler. I can change the look by removing and replacing 8 bolts.

Looking at it again tonight, I think that I'll be investing in the new spoiler. I think that it balances out the car, despite being a huge fan of the 'Better Off Dead' RS/SS. :thumbsup:

Looks like there is an ABS plastic version and a fiberglass version. My current spoiler is really warped and the black paint looks like a rattle can job because of it. Doesn't fit the decent job on therest of the car. Is there a better version of the spoiler? The shop will get whatever I prefer. I believe they get parts from AMD and Dynacorn.
