I havent mentioned the process. This is just for stainless - I start with any dings or dents and knock them out. Then use a file to get the raised areas level; then hit the area with 60 or 80 grit. Then go from 150 - 220 - 320 - 400 - 600 - 1000 - 1200. Feathering out the dented areas til I get to 320 then use that on the whole piece from then on. Polishing Im just using black compound on a spiral cotton buffing wheel using the cut and shine method and then same using green compound.

Thanks

Thanks Scott! You have a great project yourself. Use your little helper often and keep him engaged with the project. That was how I was raised and I could not appreciate that more than I do. Greatest thing that ever happened for me.
Indeed, he loves being out in the shop with me. My 13 yo daughter does as well. Although, I know her motives...she wants the car when she turns 16...like that's going to happen... :)

nice job on those brackets as well! I have a pair of the metal seat backs I may use on my 68.

Really enjoy reading your build updates, looking forward to seeing you drive off in it.

Another small step complete. Got the backing plates back on, the axles back in. I went ahead and checked the backlash and it was a little higher than I would like but 0.008" is still acceptable. Gear mesh looked good and fluid was added and "day-2" cover installed. Things have slowed down a little this week due to another addition to the family. Her name is Lucy. If everyone remembers Chevy; well, he was needing a friend to play with so we adopted Lucy from the local metro shelter. She is a handful.

We had extremely nice weather today so I took advantage. I installed the headliner & trim; it took me right at 4.5hrs to do by myself. There are still some lines in the material from it being folded in the box but once I can get the car outside & bake in the sun for a few hours they should come right out. Also added the brake lines back on the rear. Hopefully get that back under the car in the next week weeks. Some of the vertical lines you see are shadows from the garage door..

Just got in my chrome trim decals.. This are great additions to the 67-8 cars.
Big props to nomadcat on eBay.. Awesome deal & great instructions. They even give you an extra one just in case you have problems installing one.

Looking good. I just read the entire thread and the car is turning out very nice. On page 4 you posted some plating pics and the ones for the MC lid were deleted. Can you repost those pics?

Keep up the great job.
