Do you have overdrive?
Yup. It used around a quarter of a tank to work and back, 28 miles, and 4 minutes of warm up total. Granted, that's half "city" driving. I wasn't expecting much from a 541 with 4.56 gears, even with OD.

Okay, okay, I'll admit, I had a little fun in that quarter of a tank, but that's why I bought it.

Got my MT-85 for the GV, and Royal Purple 75W-90 for the diff from Jegs. Ordered an electric oil extractor on eBay from China a few weeks ago, says it will be here between tomorrow and Oct1. Guess I'll just buy one of those cheap $8 ones at Wal mart so I can do it all today. I hate those. Such a mess.

Ran up through Caesars Head and back real quick, pushing motorcycles and cars out of the way. Looked over to see what the wife was doing and said "Hey, you better not pull that strap outta the door" and she said "Hey, I'm doing a lot better than last time."

Dyno appointment tomorrow at noon. They saw my car when it was at the AC shop who mentioned to them I was wanting to have it dyno'ed. Told the shop to tell me to bring it over when it was ready.

They've built 9 second 4 cylinder Civics. Hope my car makes close to what was advertised. I'm going to have my. 5 gallons of 110 Sunoco dumped in the tank when I get there.

At the dyno.

The new no spill gas cans are horrible. Takes forever to empty a 5 gallon. Suffice to say, the 110 is in the tank, figure there was 4 gallons of 91 left, so 100 plus octane.

Waiting for the "dyno guys" to get here to start, shouldn't be long.

without going into a lot of detail, drill a 1/2" hole in the plastic container and get a valve stem for a wheel.
insert the valve stem, remove the valve core and replace the cap. now when you use the can just remove the valve cap and it will vent

Car won't start at dyno, borrowed a hammer, Wacked starter a few times, turned but was flooded, waited, whacked a few times, no start, whacked a few times, started.

Now they shut it off for the strap down. Here we go again.

Looks like starter is bad.

Wow, no one has touched their car in a while?

I got the new starter test fitted, looks a little too close to me. I got it in, locked down one of the screws for the "clockable" mount, but the other is hidden bybtrans housing so I get to take it off to tighten the other one. The old starter has a clip type of ignition terminal, so I had to switch it to ring type on the wiree to match the new starter.

Got my plug wires to my door surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, the MSD kit had only half of the wire crimp tool, and I was short one HEI boot, so I had to reuse one boot from the old set. Might pull it back off, use the one from coil wire and use a different boot for coil wire. Pretty annoying for a new, sealed kit. One of the terminals was smashed(didn't need it anyway), and the coil wire already has a point type installed. Can't figure out why they did that, on a "universal" kit. And yes, I said it was sealed and brand new.

Knocked off a wire next to one I had taken off. And was doing it by touch. When I got to the other side of the car I had to guess which one I meant to take off. Guess I'll find out quick if I was wrong!

Hope to finish starter tomorrow.

Finished nothing, kids woke up way before I could finish either

Its ALIVE! Fired up immediately. Idle is either oh so itty bit smoother, or placebo effect of new wires, but regardless. Starter worked great. Heat shield/ blanket needs some cutting, save that for another day.

I think the old starter was wrong or installed incorrectly, because this new one is a lot closer to the flywheel. Not in horizontal, but in verticalwhen looking through the headers or straight at the gear. You could see the wear on its teeth as a result.

New speedometer gear housing seals(both of them) on the way. Hope to get that done Saturday(really hopet they come in then)

Well I installed the new CNC ported Throttle Body from Pete at Vmax performance in my LS7 today. Nice piece with better throttle response.

4 bolts took less the 10 minutes and then plugged in the laptop to tune for the higher airflow at idle.:beers:

Those ARE easy. Put the LS7 TB on my Tahoe a few years ago.

What software do you use?

I got the speedometer gear housing out. The inner seal is jacked, glad to see that IS the issue, think the new seals will be in Monday. Had to order another quart of MT-85 for the Gear Vendors.

Trimmed down the spark plug wire that was too long.

Ordered new fuel hose(for between pump and lines), pretty sure I ordered the correct size(12 AN). The line OD is over 3/4" and under 1", so it has to be 12 AN. ( the current line isn't leaking, just replacing it before it does, looks old)

After that I think I'll have it "sorted out", no more mechanical things left that need resolved, no leaks.

Next I think I'll finally put in that Wilwood master cylinder. Which will entail removing one of the last mechanical pieces on the car that is original or close to it. I figured its so far from stock mechanically there is no pont in stopping now.

Probably wait a while to enjoy the car while fall is here and take a break from working on it.
