Yes I think thats possible from what I know about that build period.

Exactly, the complete drivetrain is 1-2 weeks "After" the build date, I wonder if the complete drivetrain is real but in a different Z/28?

on a "02D Feb", should the build dates for the drive-train preceed Feb 02D?

Engine Date should be before the build date, but it's only about a week off, so I guess I wouldn't be too surprised if it were legitimate. I would need to see some serious documentation. It's a Z/28 so I am extremely skeptical of everything. My initial thought is that that they hijacked the entire drivetrain from another car, but it is worth looking into.

 

You are right, that is typical, but some build periods were not typical.
How do you know that 02D didnt run into early March??

I'll just say I have a few documented cars I know of that make me think the stampings you mention are okay for that car. Whats the VIN?

Boy.... those dates are close. Tags were installed at the Fischer plant as the body was assembled, so the car wasn't final assembled until later. I agree it seems odd the drivetrain is dated later, but they are close enough that it's seems plausible. Some serious scrutiny is in order. Can you get pictures of all the stampings?

 

The Trim Tag was produced by Fisher scheduling. Just because the 2D tag was produced by scheduling, doesn't mean the car was actually started in production the last week of Feb. It's very possible the car could have been started by Fisher the first week of March, and final assembled by Chevrolet the first or second week of March. And that the drive train parts manufactured the first week of March were installed in the car within days.

 

I've seen the tag and the POP. Both are legit IMO.
Several cars around it with similar dates.

Yes, this is an exception.

 

My 02D Copo Camaro was built on or around March 5. A friends 02D Copo's VIN is after mine. Consecutive body numbers. And his BE rearend has a slightly later build date.

 

So both were probably ordered by the same dealer at the same time?

 

Right this is not typical, but it does happen.

Early March dates are ok on 02D Z28's.had many 02D Z28 and some rear ends were dated early March,Have GM Canada Documentation Sheets with delivery dates as late as March 12 for a 02D cars.Z28's with Vins N611XXX were made in the first week of March with 02D trim tags
