found these the other day and stop in today to try and contact the owner. neighbors said they've been sitting for years and owner will not sell:sad:

67 chevelle has SS396 emblems and a 12 bolt although I couldn't verify what engines were in either one. Camaro has 10 bolt and console. didn't want to snoop to much.

Jeff,
that sure looks like a 67 SS. I would do my sweetest talking to get that in my hands. Sometimes offering up a drivable car for trade works. Killer find regardless.

I've been watching a 67 around the corner from me since I moved in (almost 14 years) and asked a number of times... answer is always not for sale :(
Sits out in the weather 24/7/365 and did have a plastic tarp for a few years that rotted away. Both his sons are body shop guys at dealer ships too.(mid-20's?)
Very sad.

Anywho....wish you luck....just never know when they'll let them go :beers:

While I hate to see them rot away like that. It is their cars to do what they want with. I have knocked on a few doors you win some you lose some. If the guy is harsh towards you just leave him and the cars be. I had a 69 Camaro in my driveway for a while (there was no room in the garage for it, due to other projects). I got tired of people asking, it was only out there a couple weeks. Same thing with my Nova, but if you don;t want to sell them it's better to keep them out of sight.

There was an early 70's Mustang down the road from me for years that just had "NO" painted real big on the window with white shoe polish ha ha. I'm thinking people who don't at least put a note in the window saying "not for sale" really just get some sort of sick sense of enjoyment out of visits regardless of how they act. Kinda like how my wife always wants me around but can't stand me.

I agree or they would cover them or put them out of sight. There are a few around here like that.

I found a '68 'bird sitting past it's axles in the goop under pine trees behind a Muskoka cottage. Lower control arms had let go and dirt was holding the front end together. Holes had rotted through the top of the hood skin and a tree half grown through the windows and the response was " We are going to restore that car, and it's worth $XXXX . . .

Try to get friendly with the guy first. Maybe knock on the door and say "will you show me your cars, I'd like you to tell me what you have"? After he knows you he might be more willing to let them go, or at least you can talk him into covering them.

There's a mid-60's Porsche 356 that sits on the street near my house. It's moved about 10 ft every other week. It looks very good except the convertible top has a bad window.

Every time I drive past it I want to smack the owner for leaving that thing outside in the snow, rain, dirt, etc. It looks like someone spent a good fortune to get it nice but then someone else inherited it and doesn't know what to do with it.

It's not a Camaro, sure, but it's still a piece of auto history that should be preserved.
