3941128 Crankshaft Question?

I am looking to buy a used 1128 Forged Crank. Are these things date coded or do they all just have the part number? I understand they are still available new today. Are there any signs that I can see visually that might deter me from buying one? I know to look for scoring on the journels. Where am I most likely to find hairline cracks?

Do you mean 3941178 for 302 or 3841182 for 350?

I would have these cranks fluxed first or have the guy selling it , do it . Pay me now or later.

I apoligize, it is a part number 3941182. This is what I'm looking for. I've heard forged cranks tend to get hairline cracks with age. Does anyone know how prevalent this is?

they do. hairline cracks can and WILL get bigger. id suggest buying a new one. if not then get one from someone that knows how to look for cracks. such as a machine shop worker. i know from experience that them guys are willing to sell stuff they got lying around somewhere. and the parts are usually good.
