I have a bbc with a short water pump and a 6-71 blower. I am looking for a polished alternator bracket and saginaw power steering bracket. What are you guys running with blowers and how do you like them. My setup is v belt also. The zoops power steering bracket instructions says you need a triple groove crank pulley, the one I have is double and the water pump is single....Thanks, Jon:beers:

I'm running a BBC with a 671 and short pump. I have a billet bracket that mounts the alternator on the passengers side and a billet bracket that mounts a GM Type 2 power steering pump low on the drivers side with a remote reservoir. I wanted the alt and p/s pump to be on opposite sides of the engine, not both on the drivers side. I got the alt bracket off of eBay from a guy who was making them. I don't see them listed anymore. It is a really nice piece. I bought s/p bracket from Summit. My set up uses 2 V belts with a 2 grove billet pully on the crank and the water pump. How is your car going to be set up? I can post pictures of my set up but I'm not sure that would help you much.

Here's a guy selling a nice billet piece that mounts the alternator high on the drivers side like the stock location. Not sure if this would work for you with your power steering set up though.

I have a 8-71 and I have the march pulley setup with the GM type 2 power steering pump w/ remote reservior. They are kinda pricey but nice pieces. I did not have enough room for the 3 belts so I went with the single serpentine belt.

My problems was clearance between the electric fans and blower belt. I even had to take the brackets off the becool radiator and installed flat bar to move the radiator.

i looked at the piece on ebay, it does look nice but I dont even have an ebay account that has been used. I would rather more of a name brand so I will probably make the ebay piece my last resort. It doesnt give much information as to what pulleys will work either but if I have to go that route I will ask the seller more.

How did you find out what serpentine setup will work with your blower? I wouldnt mind switching but I am just not sure if I can buy a serpentine crank pulley and make it work. Will the blower crank pulley attach too any serpantine pulley or is it specialized. I was thinking that most "normal" crank pulleys only have 3 holes in them? but my memory is not very good anymore.

When I was looking into a serpentine set up it was well over $2000.00 for the kit that would work on a short water pump BBC. Too much for my budget at the time. I'm not sure if the price has changed. That was a few years ago. I only spent a few hundred for what I have and I'm happy with the set up I'm running but if I get some spare cash in the budget in the future I'd like to go with a serpentine kit.

Those are really nice and I would like to spend the money on them but, to be honest, I cant justify spending that kind of money right now so I might have to go cheap on them for now and upgrade asap.

On a different note, I have been emailing zoops and they are telling me that their bracket (8139) will hit the power steering box on a 69 camaro. I am having a hard time picturing how this could happen so I might just go with a factory style bracket and powder coat it unless someone has an alternative that is on the cheaper side (alternator bracket and power steering bracket for around 300 or less)....Jon

I miss typed there. I have been talking to them about the 8139 alternator bracket and the 8007 power steering bracket. They tell me that the power steering bracket will hit the steering gear box. I just cant picture it though. They really have me confused-not that it is too hard to confuse me.

I was just looking at the alan grove stuff. It doesnt seem too bad. I could probably make it look ok until I can get a nice setup (better looking setup).

I used the Alan Grove 218R alternator mount at first. Good stuff at a good price. It mounted the alternator high on the right side outside of the right head. I had it chrome plated. It looked and worked great but I swapped out for a billet mount to match the a new power steering mount I was using since it was billet. I was originally running a circle track set up for the power steering pump. It worked fine but didn't look great. I have some pictures of the Alan Grove alt. brackets up mocked up on the engine if you'd like me to post them.

This one: http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/images/Instructions/218R.pdf

Again, I did this because I didn't want both the alternator and power steering pump mounted on the same (drivers) side with nothing on the passengers side. It just looked odd to me. Too bad you hadn't posted this a few months back. I actually gave the original alt and P/S mounts I was running to a friend when I replaced them with the billet items I'm using now.

Let me know if you'd like to see the pictures.
