I found a 66 corvette convertible 427 4spd low miles, numbers matching car for sale. Woman wants 40,000 (I'm thinking 25,000). Needs new top and battery, has new interior. Going to check it out next weekend, what do you think the value is? Want to buy and turn over... Thanks Scott.

How do you fake a corvette?
I don't know much about them.

The same way they clone and restamp the Camaros today.
The same thing started happening with the early and mid year Vettes 20+ years ago.

It could have a 454 truck motor and still be worth way more that 25k.

Maybe off topic, but this one came to visit on dec 25th. It's my friend's just finished project, and he has invested $36K on it. A 327 4 speed car, engine not original, but he found a correct dated block to complete it. I'd love to see it with the knock off wheels instead of the rallies.;)

I watch the corvette Market extensively & have had two mid years in the past 8 months. $40K for non-matching 66 Big block Convt is cheap. # Match? As everyone said -GOLD!

The 66's (as '65 396 cars) - fully restored & heavily optioned - are starting to break into the magical $100K mark - unheard of for a '66 18 months ago. If you haven't looked at the Corvette in the past several months - its gone nuts. I passed on a fully restored '65 Blk/blk Conv Nov 2004 for $39,900, I bought an orignal, low #3 '65 Black 365hp coupe instead. That same Convertible -- sold by the new owner -- 6 months later went for $54K in two days. My coupe I bought in Febuary for $22K, sold in June for $32K and had 3 guys waiting in line.

I bid $47K!

Not to flame you and dont take as such but, this a prime example why I have told a couple of my close friends and my wife that in the event of my death to make sure the cars are appraised before selling. One close friend will be doing the dealing with buyers. There are alot of sharks in the waters looking to take advantage of ladies that may need to sell for financial reasons and have no idea the value of these cars. I know my wife well and if she was asking 40,000 bucks for a car and some cat came up the drive and offered 25,000 bucks she would laugh in their face. Just my .02!!
