Hey guys please post your 17" wheel and tire combo on your 67-68 Camaros. Post up photos along with the wheel width and backspacing as well as tire size.

I have a 68 Camaro and plan on going with 17" Torq Thrust IIs but would like to see the widest wheel tire combo I can fit without rubbing. Also would like to see how they look and what backspacing and wheel sizes are ideal for this year Camaro.
I've seen that 69's are a bit different so the fitment would not be the same since they have a different rear wheel well. But feel free to post your 69 if you want to add some sweet rides to this thread with 17s...

So... lets see those 17's!!!:hurray:

I just pulled all the '67s out of the thread Al linked to and will be doing the '68 and '69s the same in the next day or so...

http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=153144

It's more than just 17's but is all '67s with pic's and sizes.

Thanks DjD!!! I greatly appreciate you doin that. You the man!

Let me make sure I'm right about wheel and tire fitment... but the 67 and 68 are basically identical as far as rear wheel well and the similarity of what they can fit right?

I doubt very much if you have to worry about stock '67/'68/'69 lower shock mount problems w/ 17's b/c I figure they will tuck up inside like mine did w/ my 5.72" b/s Bullitt's, but w/ 7/16" spacers.

I have since bought 1-1/4" adapters/spacers to better center them in my rear wheel wells long ways.

Awesome response from everyone thanks guys. Some very nice cars out there too!

After looking through all of these photos and specs everyone posted, as well as the ones DjD put together in another thread, I think I will be going with the Torq Thrust IIs on a 17x9.5 wheel with 5.5" of backspacing for the rear with a 275/40-17 tire. I am pretty set on that for the rear and on the fronts, I am going to look over more and decide if I want a big tire or narrow tire.

This rear tire and wheel setup seems like it works very well for many Camaros and it looks awesome! I am planning on also installing the CPP rear disk brake conversion on my Camaro's 12 bolt posi...
Do any of you think or know if by putting on disk brakes for the rear if will affect the tire and wheel fitment with the 17x9.5 5.5" backspace and 275/40-17 tires? Do I need to change my choice of wheel/tire width and backspacing, or will it fit fine without rubbing with disks?

Thanks again guys!

17s in rear with a taller tire than 275/40-17?

I saw this guy's Camaro in another thread and wow it looks sweet.

While I don't think I will go with 20s in the rear (maybe 18s at most) do you guys think a taller tire than a 275/40-17 will fit ok under a 68 Camaro or is the 275/40-17 the max size you would want to go?

Reason I ask is look how nice his 20s tuck under the rear wheel well. I'm wondering if they are taller than the 275/40-17 size tires?

I've read around on the site and I saw how it takes more work to get a 67-68 Camaro to have the rear tire tucked look compared to the 69 Camaro due to the rear wheel well having a different shape.

I'm going to do some searching but if any of you know about a taller tire fitting on a 68 Camaro like these photos without rubbing issues, please post or please post your advice on what would be the best route for me to take.

These wheels and tires I'm getting for my 68 are going to cost me quite a bit so I want to make sure I get it right set the first time around before I order them.

I agree that a taller tire looks good in a 67-68 wheel well, just not 20" rims, especially with a big split f/r like 17/20. The best compromise that I found that fits is 255/50/17. It's 27.2" dia, fills the same as a 255/60/15 (my favorite setup for the rear on rally's) 255/50/17 also has more rubber on the road than the 255/60/15. Pics are back a page or so. -Dan

I am planning on going with the American Racing Torq Thrust II wheels in a 17 x 9.5 with 5.5" backspace in the rear like most guys are running, however I went to their website for the part # and don't see the 17X9.5 wheel. :confused:huh?
They only show 17x9 and 17x8:

Do any of you know the part # for the wheel I'm looking for?
Also can you get it in full chrome/center chrome or is it only available in polished for a 17" TTII?

BTW, thanks so far everyone for all the feedback this is a great site!
