Anyone have the two main parts of their vent windows, window frame and the long bar( not sure what to really call it) re-chromed recently ?? Curious what you paid to have it done.

Chrome ain't cheap!! Just had the bumpers and door handles on my '67 done. $500 each for the bumpers, $150 each for the outer door handles. They look awesome but WOW!! They were in great shape too, just 43 years old. You can get repops but I checked door handles out from Nat'l Parts Depot and thought they were rather cheaply made.

Pretty high prices there....about a year ago, I paid 300 ea for bumpers, 75 ea for door handles. Flawless work and free shipping too ! Ogden Chrome in Utah.

My handles were pretty good shape to begin with. As you probably know, they're diecast (pot metal), same as the 67 vent frame. Not real sure but think to even be considered a candiate for re-chroming, they shouldn't have much more than very light pitting to begin with.

They can fix pitting but it gets expensive, I want to say they fill with copper, polish fill again until they come up??? Saw something on it years ago a place called Pauls I think had something on one of the hot rod shows that was showing the proccess. Maybe you can look them up online and see what they can do.

I brought mine to a glass shop and took a chance on them. He told me no guarantee but he's done them before. They took the glass out and installed in the new frame. I was real nervous because the glass is original with the light greenish blue tint all around as well as the VIN etched in each piece near the LOF emblem. It all worked out well, I was relieved.

I think it takes extreme finese, too much heat or prying will guarantee a crack.
