That goes for ANY trans. I tore the backs of my hands all to hell trying to wedge them in upside down with a wrench to get the bracket on AFTER the TH350 was in. I suppose I could have taken the distributor out and dropped the cross member first.
Nawww.... too easy.

Just pickin' on ya Kevin, I learned the hard way also. I was able to get the nuts on with the tranny in (muncie). Being as they were flange nuts I could get my arms in over the tranny with the nut sitting in the wrench and get it tightened.

I dropped the end of the tranny multiple times for those nuts. Remember you still have to decide on what to do when it comes time for sound deadener and carpet. I decided to put the deadener on underneath the console bracket (to keep the height correct), so it had to come off again (lower tranny another time). Then I trimmed the carpet with the bracket in place. Made a rectangular hole the size of the console base and pushed and pulled to get the carpet over the bracket ends. Console sits nice and tight against the carpet now. Fun!
