This may have been covered already but I just wanted to save some of you guys the BS Im going through with mounting a new console.

If you are doing the auto to 5speed converstion and are going to put in a new console ...drill your holes and mount the front console bracket before installing the trans. It will save you from having to drop down the trans and put those bolts on. ....

Just pickin' on ya Kevin, I learned the hard way also. I was able to get the nuts on with the tranny in (muncie). Being as they were flange nuts I could get my arms in over the tranny with the nut sitting in the wrench and get it tightened.

I dropped the end of the tranny multiple times for those nuts. :) Remember you still have to decide on what to do when it comes time for sound deadener and carpet. I decided to put the deadener on underneath the console bracket (to keep the height correct), so it had to come off again (lower tranny another time). Then I trimmed the carpet with the bracket in place. Made a rectangular hole the size of the console base and pushed and pulled to get the carpet over the bracket ends. Console sits nice and tight against the carpet now. Fun!
