If it's as solid as he says it is and he has a real title, it might be worth it, but remember that it's missing alot of little stuff and it looks like everything needs to be either gone thru or replaced.

it has the original seats... of course, they need to be scrapped. It all depends on how much of the work you can do yourself. Do you have other projects going on? this looks like a whole lot of work. If it were me, I'd spend a little more money and get one that's not in such bad shape. Gotta be a buyers market. But, once had a heck of a time in McAllen Texas.. for what that's worth.

hey Chris , im all Wing window over herre.. I was just thinking of picking it up for a good price and making a few bucks, but I just received an email from him and he is firm on that 2,500 and he said its for his childs college.


as far as projects I have going on ... just minor stuff like paint the 67 but I still drive it primered and still get the :thumbsup:. and other minor stuff with my daily drivers.

 

I thinks thats a very fair price, even if (I said if) it was a 67.

Been there , done that in the Valley, Lived there most all my run around days, Nothing left out in the open in the valley is gonna be solid, not even a steel I beam. My guess, it will need total floors and maybe even a cowl. Bet the rear lower quarters are gone across the river. Better look real good and hide your money. Yes, I have a 69 .

I've had two 1969's including the one I own now. If you have the time & money to spend that's one thing. Personally with the market correcting itself on these cars and other things, you can get one in a whole lot better shape for $10G more than won't be such a basket case and may be drivable. And to think I sold car #1 in my signature below for $2,200..Sheez!!

By the time you are done with body work including floors, quarters, interior, paint, drive train etc. you may have $60G in a car that is worth $40G...I would look at cars in the $11k to $18K area. Lots of bargains to be had right now on cars that are in decent shape and could be a show car with a little work. That car in that craigslist ad will need more than a "little" work.

 

You have good point about investing more at the beginning so that you can get a better start. I wasn't able to do that so I had to buy a basket case and spend my 12K over time. I've got about 8K in my car now with all new floor, quarters, trunk, and outer metal except roof and rockers. Some just don't have the money to make a high dollar initial purchase and have to spread it out.

 

Man, that thing is rough. I would pass if it were me. Cheap up front but going to take a ton of money to bring her back.

 

Here's a decent looking 1967 Blue Convertible in my area. It's going for $14,500 obo. These things were at $25k two years ago even with some bondo in them. There's a decent 1969 hard top on Craigs list I saw a week ago around me for like $10,500. Car was priced at $15G earlier this spring. If I see it again I'll try to post the link. The up front costs of $2,500 are cheap but money is money. You can spend $2G today or $20, $40 or $60G tomorrow. Now is a good time to buy the semi-decent cars that don't need alot of work. A basket case may be $2G but if you are going to pay someone to do the work, they are not going to drop their hourly labor prices. And Jegs, Summit, Rick's, D&R Classic, Year One aren't going to drop their prices either.

My 2 cents---Let the prior owner take the hit on the repair/restoration cost. Sad to say but someones Camaro misery is someones good fortune. Trust me when I say this I've taken the shaft on cars 1 & 2 big time in my signature below. Car #3 was a mini shaft due to my not thinking clearly and I refuse to get shafted on car #4....I still say even $8,500 today could get you a running, driver car that you can work on & restore. Those are at least fun!

imho you'd be better off buying this car than that other one for $2,500.
