Does anyone know where I can get an A/C resistor that sits on top of the suitcase? Has 4 prongs and shaped like a football. If anyone is removing their A/C, please let me know what's for sale.
Thanks,
Joe

Joey welcome to Team Camaro, that part is available from the resto catalogs, check with our site sponsor Ground Up, also Ricks and Year One carry most of the parts for the A/C that we have.
Also list your wanted items in our sites 'wanted' section, folks looking to sell things go there first to try to make a sale. That also keeps 'for sale' and 'wanted' items out of these threads, which keeps the site cleaner for searching and solving problems we all have with our Camaros.
Good luck, I know how much fun the A/C can be on my Camaro too.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately that part is not avilable from the restoration companies (only 67-68 (3 prong), I need 69 (4 prong)). I posted in the "want ads" but so far no reply. I figured my only hope was to look for someone that is removing their 69 A/C or someone with some NOS stock. Thanks anyway

Thats correct, the 4 prong is NOT AVAILABLE from the restoration houses.

This is a simple resistor though, so in theory you could take 2 (3 prong AC resistors) from the 68 model year, break them apart, use some circuit board material to layout the 4 prongs, takes one of the resistor wires and shorten it a bit to give yourself a 3rd resistance, and put it together into a package that would go into that suitcase cleanly..

I myself used an American Graphiti AC delete suitecase, and a 3 prong resistor pack, cut the wires to the old 4 wrong and soldered/crimped 3 new spade female connectors, then just plugged them right into the 3 connections. Sure I have 3 speeds (medium/high/full) without a LOW but thats ok for the time being until I go Vintage Air or similiar.

My error, I was thinking of the side mount override unit that I had to replace, but I have seen the other units on Ebay, unfortunately they were part of a whole suitcase or complete a/c system someone was selling.
You might try contacting these guys since they remake all the other components.
Old Air Prod.

Also, sometimes this outfit comes across old stuff too, good luck.

Mr Black, can you give your comments on the Cool Air system? A bunch of people in Bench Racing have been discussing a group purchase of the Cool Air system but have no further details on it since they do not have a website.

Brian, that AC delte box looks pretty well made in the pic. Can I ask some questions? :D

How is it in "real life"? Does it fit well? Do you use the stock AC interior heater box?

How much? and where did you get it? I haven't seen one before.

Looks to be a pretty good solution to clean up the engine bay when the AC is removed and still have heat/defrost.

Thanks

joe

Its $129 from American Graphiti 303-275-9099
They sell them directly and make them.

Pretty good fit, had to adjust the holes a little with my dremel. One problem I still have is near the heater core lower hose connection is inaccessible between the fender support bracket and the ac delete box when installed. Nothing a little cutting and resin can't fix but its fine for now since I don't need to run a heater here in Southern California when I drive it.

Anyways, more pictures here
