Hey Nick:
Yes we did talk about the RS chrome...sorry for this extremely late response! I have a 6 month-old son, 14 yr-old daughter, 2 teenage future step-daughters, and a demanding fiancee...and I'm actually pretty happy. It's difficult to get time to look on here...work is impossible, and time at home in the evenings is limited. My crusty little 6 cyl RS project is quickly moving forward (as far as obtaining parts) as I just bought a tree crushed '68 Firebird coupe with absolutely perfect floors and trunk (going out to get it in early Sept with my best friend from the Navy...I could have it shipped, but the road trip will be a lot more interesting), and this Thurs I'll drive south from Columbus, OH to Kingston, TN to pick up a running and complete 250 six out of a little-old-lady '68 4 door Nova (also getting the black window cranks and std interior door handles...like new). It's nice to hear from you...please keep in touch!

Hey Guys:
Hopefully this one stays original...not many of these left! It's on Ebay and has been bid to $17k with 4 days left. Check out the original invoice...cool!
Damn. Now I feel bad about what I am doing to my car.

Way back I had a 67 convertible 6 with 3 spd floor shift. The same color as this one. Economywise it would have been real nice to have today!

I think people nowadays are gloritizing things way too much. I know back in the day any first gen Camaro with the base 210 HP 327 became boring to drive about 3 blocks after you got into it. Just not exciting. A 6 cylinder car would be downright painfull. There was a reason people did not order 6 banger Camaros. And today people are calling them rare?? and for some reason desireable...... get serious.

Any early Camaro whether v8 or 6cyl can be fun and exciting to drive imho.
There were plenty of 6cyl Camaro's sold and they were an excellent source of tranportation just like Mustangs.

I don't know about rare but it seems most opt to put a V8 in place of a 6cyl so I guess that in itself makes them a rare sight nowadays.

I own a 6cyl Camaro convt. and was gonna go put a v8 in but have been toying with the idea of putting it back stock as I have other higher horsepower vehicles.

I've got a 6cyl 3 on the tree car. Unfortunately its all big block, 6 speed, airbags now.

While my current ride is a 67 SS 396 TH400 I still wished I kept my old ride from way back...a 67 convertible 6 with 3 spd console shift. A soft powder blue it would have done well if I kept it and let a nice lady drive it around!

Well I rode around in these things for years and I can tell you they were not exiting.

Mike dont feel bad the 6's are what they are, economy cool! and lot of others have hacked up stuff at least you are doing it right.
Thanks Rich. I hope I do old grandma justice. I'd like to think that the way I am doing it, is if grandma drove into a GM dealer back in the day and said, Can you make my car a Z/28?". I am keeping all of the original parts. Just incase. You never know.

The best of both worlds would be to have a nice V8 Camaro to race around in, and something rarer than a hen's tooth (like a 6 cyl with 3 on-the-tree). There are (probably) more 1st Gen Zs and SSs (esp. '69s) than GM ever built, and they don't seem to attract a lot of attention at shows. I think "69Z28Freak's" white '69 with a six was over-the-top cool (and I was a little disappointed to see him turn it into another Z), but he is the one who has to drive it and he's the one spending his money on it. My future wife isn't into me spending money on my '68 Camaro, but she graciously puts up with it. I totally understand why guys switch their Camaros over (much more fun driving a V8 than a 6), but the sixes are great drivers (and get great fuel economy), and there really aren't many places left to drive a Camaro fast. I'll keep mine original...maybe it'll even be worth a few more bucks someday becuase of the 6.

Yes, by all means keep it, like I said previously I wish I kept my 67 convertible powder blue 6 banger with 3 spd console shift.....would have been great as a daily driver where my current machine I only drive 1,000 miles a year.

I was at a car show a few weeks ago and came across a 67 SS that was a factory deluxe bench seat column shift car with the 4N (396) code, power windows, rear defrost, AM/FM, etc. Car was Sierra Fawn originally, but the owner went with metallic blue. Pretty rare bird - probably would have been a good one to go back with the original color.

Whoa! that's a beaut to behold....... as a matter of fact mine came with, originally, the 4N code, a column shift TH400 w/bucket seats. It had changed over the years to console w/gauges shift but woulda been neat if it was still a column shift.
