I've read so many searches my eyes are rolling around in my head.

Here's the problem, no reverse lights. My 67 plane jane came with a powerglide and a column shifter. I have put a th350 in it with an after market floor shifter. The neutral safety switch that hooks up to the shifter works fine, I have a spot to hook up the reverse lights on the shifter but where do I find the wires.
I'm guessing they're under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel but I can't seem to find them.
Am I looking in the right direction with this?

Should be purple wires John, if the same as 69's... only bigger guage purple under there I think. There had to be wires from the Power glide reverse switch, so tap into those and extend to new shifter and switch.

yes, big 12 gauge purple and purple/white stripe for the neutral safety, smaller pink and green for the backup lights.

Did the autos have the reverse lights coming out the firewall like the manuals? I know the 68 and 69 reverse lights are different because of the switch being on the trans on 67 & 8's vs. the column on 69's. If you have an AIM it's under m20.
