Haven't been on the site much for a few years. Took some time off from restoration projects but have jumped back in and working towards completing the '69. Hope to finish paint next week... Also picked up another toy that has kept me busy since last winter.

Hope to run into to some TC folks this summer/fall.

Nice truck. I just unloaded a restorable 67 GMC that color with the small back window. Drove it for 15 years in primer. Like the trim on yours though, mine didn't have any front, back or side trim.

Took two attempts to get the metallic paint to look OK, but am happy with the results. In addition to my own ignorance and lack of experience, had to deal with wild temp and humidity changes, replacing my HVLP gun after dropping my old one, dust and bugs, etc. Perfect? No, but well worth the effort and occasional frustrations. Still need to cut and buff but the driving weather is running short for the year, so for now, putting it all together.

This has been a project of firsts for me. The help I received here was immensely helpful. I have done everything myself except install the front and rear glass. I kept track of the expenses but thankfully not the hours. I've owned the car for 30 years and been restoring it on and off since 2005.

Still have some loose ends and concern over engine knock, but wanted to share some progress and pics.

Welcome back! Your story sounds similar to mine - been out of the garage for a few years, but it feels good to be back.

Chuck,
Your car turned out beautiful!! Personally I rather look at 10 cars the owners built themself that may have a small flaw or two, than 1 car someone bought that was perfect, if there is such a thing. lol..

Very nice work!!

Thanks guys! Looks like it'll be while longer before I put any more miles on. Had a knock that I was hoping was rocker / valve cover interference or oil pan getting hit. looks like it was neither, so gonna pull the engine before something really bad happens. I rebuilt it 5 years ago, so don't remember enough details to guess what I did wrong. Oh well...

Hi Chuck...

Glad to see that its done and the knock turned out to be minor and is now is fixed.Maybe you can make it to Sams Club in Seekonk this Sunday. It may be the last cruise of the year there. It would be nice to see you there!

Hi Kevin. Wish I could make it to Seekonk, but have plans all afternoon on Sunday. Cruise season is pretty much over, but maybe I'll run into somewhere before winter.
