Neat car, good color combination, and pretty cool with the 396 and GM aluminum heads. Obviously you'd have a heck of a time proving originality but I'd consider it as a fun driver. If the car could be had in the mid-high teens I think it would be a great deal.

One potential issue is the scaly look of the underside...I'd want to check that out in person before bidding.

Looks good from the pix, as you said it's better to see in person. With the L-88 heads it'll be something to brag about. The scaly stuff underneath looks like it might have been spray undercoated at one time.

5 days left on the bidding, it's at 15K now so I imagine his reserve would be quite a bit higher. Worth it to keep an eye on as it's been on the market for awhile. http://www.getusedcar.net/detail/us/nApncUAonnTUUBTnBYB/1968-Camaro-SS-396

That car has a lot of scaley rust on the chassis. Must have been a rust bucket before all that sheet metal was replaced in the 90's.

As far as originality, I wouldn't count on it at all. Wrong speedo, steering wheel, radio cut out, manual drum car. It's a typical old hot rodded Camaro, and could be a fun car as is if the price doesn't go much higher. M21 with 3.08 is gonna be tough to launch.

I had a 67 SS396 and it came with manual disc brakes, in 68 power brakes were mandated later in the year for big blocks, not sure if some earlier 68 SS could have come with just manual drums

Needs some TLC on the interior. Dash looks like it needs love. The scale under the car is from undercoating. It looks like the chassis lubrication system is working overtime so you'll have some seals to replace.

Lots of work needed to bring this one up. I'd say 18k.
