I know we talked about this one when it was for sale last year, but I can't find my old post.

This was one up for sale last year as an unfinished project, and still needs some reassembly work. I'm really curious why neither seller (assuming they are different people) has finished the car yet...lots of $ being left on the table selling it in this condition....

Maybe its me, I don't see why it should go for a lot more. it is a 69 Camaro with the RS option. Doesn't have the original block, and I am not sure if it has any docs that show all the options he says it came with. The RS adds some value, but the other options while nice, I don't think add a ton to a RS car. If it had been a SS, then I would reconsider.
Maybe I am way off...just my 2 cents (from watching past cars sell)

I understand it is a convertible. I have not seen the RS option add 15-20% to the selling price on a 69 Camaro. I have seen about 5% on average, the highest I have seen is 10%, but that would be on a Z/28 or a SS optioned car.
This is just what I have witnessed though.

$30K plus and still not met reserve. "I am trying to describe the Camaro as accurately as possible because this is not going to be a cheap car to own"

My guess is his reserve is $50K

IMO by the time you put the time and money in to finish this car you'll have more invested then you could sell it for. Sure it sounds like an easy project (a couple of weekends. Lol)

If that is the case why hasn't he invested those couple of weekends and a few bucks to finish the car? Finished cars are always worth more then project cars.

I don't see how this car finished would be a 50k car. If it was an SS/RS vert I could see 50k being the top money, Maybe a pinch more. I know what Vegas paid recently for his SS and I just don't see a convertible going for tons more, let alone an RS only vert.
just my 2 cents

Nice car, but if the reserve is really $50K, they guy is nucking futs if you don't mind the expression. Friend of mine sold a black RS/SS vert with original drivetrain, AC, AM/FM multiplex, tilt, tach & Gauges, and PW for $52K, and it was a running, driving, done car that needed nothing. I thought that was pretty good money for the car. This car still has a lot of labor involved to get it on the road. He must be a MOPAR guy, judging by the body color on the trunk, chassis, and engine compartment. ;)

Well lets hope Dana wasn't bidding at his own auction...

Was looking in an old price guide (1989) and first gen 'verts were 20-25% higher in value over coupes. A number 1 condition 67 vert was 16K, coupe was 13K. 69 was considerably less, 12K vert, 10K coupe. Hard to believe, eh !

Does anyone think those percentages still holds true today ?

I think a lot of it depends on the type of car and the area of the country you are in. I think verts are much more popular in warm weather climates where they can be enjoyed year round (or nearly year round). Rarity probably comes into play a little bit as well. Of course, if it is up to me, that 25% bump is probably on the low side. :) Love my verts!

The ragtop and the fiber optic's will positively effect the price. Not all original drivetrain will hold it back some. If they can prove the exec car story that could also help the value. And then quality of restoration as well can bring the price up. The lights portion of the RS can be added to any car for under $2k so really has minimal return...

It really depends on the buyer and how much they fall for the car and if they have what the seller is asking... YMMV
