So they dropped 2 cents, were still way above the rest of the US.

That's only fair.

What was the temperature on the islands today, about 80? It was 24 here in Mass, and the snow and sleet are on the way. Santa won't need the wheels on his sled around here this year.

My gas is 191.9 for 87, 201.9 for 89 and 211.9 for 91. Where I shop (truck stop) is about a nickle below the normal prices around here. Dropped about 9 or 10 cents a gallon since Thanksgiving.

how much more does it cost to ship gas to Hawaii than to somewhere on the mainland?
that has to be factored into the price.
prices here are going down- i saw $1.75 yesterday, compared to $1.89 as the lowest price at the beginning of the week.

Los Angeles sees $1.93-$1.99 right now
Orange County sees $1.99-$2.15 right now
Given the amount of state taxes we have to pay on gas (which gets raided each year from the transportation fund into the general fund) we are enjoying these nice lows!

Actually, Tesoro and Chevron both have refineries here, on the island. FWIW, the state sued all of the gas companies a couple years ago. Most pleaded no contest, paid a small fine (about $1m each), and sat the trial out. Chevron fought it, as they were the main defendants. When the courts finally got to their books, they found an astounding fact. Even though production at Chevron's Hawaii plant produced only 10% of the total production of gas companywide, profits from Hawaii sales were actually 50% of the total company profits. They've been soaking us for years. Has anything changed since this revalation? No. Everytime prices go up, they stay up, never to come down again. Two years ago, gas was at $1.60/gal/reg. unleaded. Since then, every increase has just steadied out, not to come down. A couple weeks ago, there was an article about this trend in the paper. So now the prices dip $.02, wow!

Oh, well, at least we don't have to chop wood, or pay an oil bill too.
