the car runs rich only at idle its 750 holly dp the the dizzy is msd 85551 mac. advance tthe timing is set at 18 at idle and 36 wot also the carb is running on all 4 ciruct at idle my friends tell me to lock the timing to 36 and it wont run rich at idle

It might need a power valve. Mine was doing the same thing....replaced the PV and all was good

Make sure the throttle blades are set correct,and not open too far uncovering the transfer slots,as this will cause a rich condition at idle.

How many turns out are the idle mixture screws?

Carburetor must be removed, and held upside down to set the throttle blades at the desired position, exposing the throttle transfer slots.

i like to thank you guys for trying to help me out with my car i went ahead and lock the timing at 36* the car woke up no more runnig rich smoke went away the car runs more crisp beter response more power i didnt beleive it till i saw it with my eyes no pinging and no hared starts
