Hi TC,

I'm still in the process of my TH350 to M20 4 speed conversion. Can anyone tell me how the speedometer cable is routed and possibly the length? I do see a clip on the passenger side tunnel but not sure if this is the clip for the cable. A simply explanation of the route like out the firewall, over the bellhousing to passenger side clip to the transmission. I'm not even sure what side the cable should connect to the M20 driver or pass side of the tail shaft? Any info. will be appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

If you get a tailshaft out of a 68-72?? Pontiac for the Muncie the speedo cable would mount on the Driver side. Did that years ago and kept the original Auto Speedo cable. Its not as easy a swap with the tailshaft. From what I remember, you need to make sure the drive gear for the speedo on the main shaft of the trans is in the correct location. To do it "correctly" you need to drill a hole near the trans tunnel and route the speedo cable through it to the passenger side. Tailshafts for original Camaro Muncies have the speedo on the passenger side.

Side note...Speedo cable length...

I converted from a TH350 (driver's side connection) to a Muncie (passenger side connection). The same 62" cable routed through the "Muncie" hole worked for the Muncie . When I needed to replace the 62" cable, I couldn't find one for a '67 Camaro, which has the screw-on speedo connection. I settled for a 67 inch cable from Summit that worked fine. Measure your current cable to make sure it will work.
