Trunk Lid Emblem Holes

Seems like I read that even factory spoiler cars had the original trunk emblem holes under the spolier. Is this true?

If so, what is the "correct" way to seal these original holes, when installing a rear spoiler.

If not, should I weld up my original holes?

Thanks,

What I'll do is look for some rubber plugs that match the emblem holes. That way you don't have to repaint the trunk. I installed the rear spoiler and moved the emblem up using a template. The template has both locations marked, with and without spoiler.

I always keep a roll of 3M windshield ribbon around for sealing up small holes and such. It also works good for door hinges and front cowl seams etc.
I don't know, but I would think that all the lids came pre-drilled for the emblems in the lower location, and were then re-drilled for the D80 option.

Service replacement deck lids were produced without the holes, as they serviced all three years' production; it was left to the body shop that replaced them to drill the emblem holes that were correct for the year and option car they were working on.
