. I've searched here and on other sites and am not coming up with anything.
This has been discussed many times in these forums...
For arou8nd 6 months before and during the last body rebuild I spent a 5h1t load of time researching.
I found what is in the AIMS is not what was on original survivor cars
Also stripes varied between assembly plants , and when car was made, even within the same plant and yr.
That there are 2 or 3 different controversial stencil sets floating around
SO
I decided not to import. ship in sentcel sets
I have all the AIMs for 67. 68 69 yrs
I had measurments of cars at shows and those of survivor cars
And hand lay out is not rocket science.. just patience and gentle.
So 1st I marked out the stripes on the car as per AIMS and they just looked wrong, up by the vent on the front and below the window gap on the rear.
So with all this in hand, I started sketching the stripes in the undercoat....then started to layout the masking tape
What I did discover, and was VERY OBVIOUS, is that who ever designed the "UNIQUE camaro strips was an artist , not a car person necessarily
They where not parrell, and the angles/ gaps all had to do with fitting in accentuating the lines curves and reflections of the car
So also with this realization in mind I decided to 'mod' the Aims a little which sort of ended up a mix of the different survivor options....
1/The gap between the stripes and the width of the strip is a tiny bit different ... tiny but makes a huge difference in over all effect
2/Dont go high as the AIMS up to the back window....it just looks damn wrong! and go a little lower than what I have in my pics below....about 2/3 of the way up the width of that panel below the window.. a little lower than pic below...which over all looks ok, but to look right, lower a smidgen
3/The gap between the main stripe and pin stripe is the same as the width of the swage in the hood.. but when done that way just looks wrong.. so did what is in pics below
The outside dimensions u can get from the hood swage, badge positions, and the inside from the AIMs
and ANOTHER FORUM SEARCH HERE .....where I posted far more detailed dimensions etc
PS the blue is A Aussie 2012 GM Holden Colorado and the grey a indian ford grey silver... it was the only stock colour, after months of searching that had the right blue base tint and did not wash out on a horozonal surface from sunlight.
The only thing I would change is the stripe gap below rear window.
