Engine bay almost done. Closeout panel now complete. Moved the oil catch cans due to change in closeout panel

Bumpers now smoothed (bolts welded and shaved) also pulled right into the body

Billet grille now on and in place

Only minor things now like filling holes, smoothing engine bay, etc etc before we go to paint.

Also got a 4" Cowl hood for it so will be registered with the single 1050 Dominator and the 4" Cowl. Then that will come off and the tunnel rammed twin 1000 Race Demons will go on. Blower will follow later

Loving the bars, grille and engine bay

We have PAINT !!!!!

Underside stoneguarded on Mon, and painted last night

Interior painting (ie roof liner, dash, console etc) will be later this week

3 coats of base yellow and 4 of pearl, 3 clear

Interior fluro lights don't do a good job of showing the pearl, it looks fricken awesome, oh and way way brighter and much more yellow than I was expecting, she'll be damn bright when in full yellow...but I am stoked, exactly the colour I wanted...

very nice!!
competition corvette yellow???
the kangaroo's will run like hell when they see you coming...and the space shuttle will know your gps location at all times!! lol

That car is awesome. Are you going to paint the headliner / interior or will they be covered with leather / cloth.

We are having the interior done in the camaro that I built and the dash is painted will ppg soft feel paint. You put a base color on it then the clear is applied and heated. Makes it look like leather and feel like rubber.

All the interior will be painted, headliner, console, dash, tubs in the boot everything etc...

Not using the soft feel paint, as I want to smooth and shiny look

Interior all you will see is:

4 leather bound bucket seats
leather bound steering wheel
2 dakota digital gauges
pedals

everything else, and I mean everything will be hidden, even the gear selector, outside of that, shiny bright yellow PPG Vibrance

Couple of updates:

1. Paint

Front end and inside boot now painted

Some pics below, and also playing with Video. Plan to get a much much better video of her when outside is painted and in the sun. Hoping video might show the pearl better, but I really don't think anything will until it sees natural sunlight.

Notice underneath of the control arms paints, the tops are all polished

Diff with it's brand spanking new full floaters and 35 spline axles being assembled today, car will be re-assembled over course of this week in prep for outside being painted

The image below is actually a 23 second video, click it to watch...nothing special just testing video, will plan a more thorough / better video when in full paint

2. Motor

OK after much debate we decided best to pull it down and go the once over given it a crate motor that's been sitting for almost 3 years.

First the good news
- The definitely dynoed it you can tell that the motor has been run, so I have no reason to not believe the original dyno figures of 816Hp and 825 Ft/Lbs of torque
- Pressure tested the heads - 100% perfect
- sonic tested the crank - all good
- block is sound, but is actually 10 thousand over, so it's actually 634 cubes !!!
- we are going to machine the tunnel rams to the heads
- parts are a mix of good and some cheapo stuff but mostly OK
- Engine builder feels that with the tunnel ram it might go 900Hp, we will chassis dyno it to tune it when it is running

Now the not so good news (but not bad)
- it has cheapo Mallaroy pistons, they are being chucked and replaced with JE ones
- Bearings have a bit of wear on them due to crap in the oil, so they will also be replaced (very little to no wear on crank thankfully)
- springs are a bit touch and go but we will leave for now, everything else all good

Now we started planning for the blower (that will be roughly 12 months after the car is registered and I save a whole ton of pennies for a Hilborn injected 12/71)

it's 10.4 : 1 compression right now, we'll leave it at that for 12 months

After that we'll go 20 degree HPC coated 8.5 : 1 blower pistons

Builders "gut feel" wet finger guess-ta-mate on HP on low to medium boost once blown.....1300 - 1500 Hp.....holy sh1t !!!!

Dropped in this morning as I had to drive straight past on the way home from the office.

Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics as I wasn't expecting to be down that way today so didn't have my proper camera.

Inside all painted now.

They primed and blocked the primer 4 times to get it baby smooth before painting. Painting it was hard, had to roll it in the rotisserie on it's side and stand between the console and the firewall

Again interior lights don't show the pearl, but damn it's shiny...and it hasn't even been cleared and wet sanded and cleared again yet

I was always told not to use silicone around windows on cars. It will cause rust to form.

I'm pretty sure your car wont see rain anyway besides washing it.
Why would rust form because of silicone sealant?
I know some silicones use acetic acid, maybe that could eat paint away(?) and some silcones use acetone which is not good with acryilics.
I think that typically automotive window sealant used on many of the new cars use a neutral cure silicone, that should be OK (and common color is black) I assume that is what will be used on Cluxford's beauty.

Dash and centre console now in paint...

Re-assembly started will be on wheels later today. Being fully assembled so all the panels can be gapped with full car weight in place

Short 42 sec video. Sorry for the shakiness, I have a natural shake I have had all my life, and it gets worse when I am in a hurry as I was today (dropped in on way to a meeting)

Went down....no paint

So more teaser shots....

Problem with perfectionists....they decided to reblock the whole car again, aiming for paint now early next week...

None the less did get some photos

First lot the ghost flames, they mocked up 6

3 panels 2 lots of flames per panel, I only have photos of one panel

the 2 panels I did not get shots of had a gold and magenta pearl, and a blue and a green pearl flicked into the flames

The 1 panel that I did get a photo of (seen below in 2 different angles) was using just more of the same pearl that is being paid n the car anyway, just more coats.

1 of 5 extra coats and the other of 10 extra coats

In this fist pics the flames at the top are 5 extra coats, at the bottom 10 extra

Image

in this second pic the one on the right hand side is 5 coats, left hand side 10 extra

Image

I'm going with the 5 extra coats. Nice and subtle and Love how it changes colour with the change of angle, it's either red, green or yellow flames

The other pics are just as the car stands while they block it...

Thought some might like to see it with the 4" cowl it will be registered with. The shop trying to talk me into staying with the 4" cowl...but no way, it comes off when the plates go on....

I d seriously love the look of these rear treads damn I love the deep dish of these wheels....
