and I thought I was starting off from scratch on my Camaro! Just a firewall and frame rails? What's next for the car? ;):D (just kidding...)

Looking good. Can you pass the plumb, Bob? :D Great use of toolage there. Nice and centered.

Well guys and any Gals,

i got a friend of mine to help me with positioning the firewall on the jig. Took alittle work and adjustment but it came out pretty close to center as seen by the center pendolum on center of the fire wall and center line on the jig.:hurray:. Here are the pics took about 45 minutes of directing my friend on what i needed

Paul, All I can say is WOW !! That IS the definition of starting from scratch. Keep your friend happy. :beers:

I got my friend to come over to help me. It is amazing what a 12 pack will get you, nah just kidding he is good guy. Test fitted the firewall, floorpan on the rear frame rails. Had to tweak the front firewall mounts about one inch, but that was ok. Checked all measure I could think of against the donor in the back ground (poor thing) and close to within 1/16 all round so far. Here is picture of the progress and it is coming along very slow cause of my knee injury, so Im playing foreman :beers:.

I marked the picture and when doing so noticed that my CFO (wife) put her old valentine flowers in the man cave to be thrown away :noway::mad:. I will post others pictures as the project continues, I have an MRI :( soon to see about the knee.

Be safe.

Paul, The approach you are taking is quite interesting. Keep your friend,
and wife ;), happy and you will be driving the car before you know it.
All of your pics have dissapeared except for your last post. Do you know
whats up with that ? Hope the knee is getting better. Good luck.

Yea! What IS up with that?

That's it--- I don't like this thread anymore. (just kidding...l:))

It seems like you may have moved or changed them in your photobucket account breaking the link for it to appear here. You can re-post them in a new post if you wanted. I believe that's the only way you can fix them. (it has happened to me too in some of my early pics in my thread)

This is going to be one of the most interesting threads for me since you are starting from PURE SCRATCH! Amazing to see.:beers:

Well guys Im trying to post pictures but having a hard time. I did create a photo album to the public. Anyone have the process to put pictures back in the post. I reduced all photos to 800x600, but no luck.

The pics are great! But,,, if you want the actual image to show up on this thread, you should hover over the picture in your photobucket account, and then right click your mouse when you are over the bottom "IMG" link instead. Then copy it, and paste it into this thread. Give that a try. :beers:

Ha ha.... nice! Glad you got it going there. :beers:

Tell ya what--- I am one jealous Camaro owner seeing how good and tight your frame rails sit against your new floor. That's perfect! How did you manage that one? So many of us on here have gap issues there. Dying to know... VERY NICELY DONE!

I tell you Todd, it was not easy to do and took alot of measuring from the donor car you see and the Fisher manual. If I had taken the car completely apart I dont think it would be that close. After I saw what I had to work with on the car after teardown, I chose a different path to make (Excalibur) car name from a rust bucket back to a genuine muscle car. I had to replace many of sockets (china made) of course, not my craftsman or snap-on one after throwing a fit and throwing sockets in the bayou .

Also, a bit of luck helped as well. I sure am glad this forum exist or i would be lost, and or outside working :hurray:.

Oh by the way, after I finish Excalibur, this is my next project of my 72 C10 shortbox :beers:. I havent given it a name yet, but I will and looking to go somewhat of protouring on it as well.

Both pictures are for reference only and no infringement intended :noway:. I plan on having them both in the garage and drive on weekends only and pass on to my son in my will. Oh by the way I just found out Im going to be a grandpa for the first time.:beers:. My son and his wife are expecting.

Paul, Your approach to building the car is continuing to be impressive.
Just about nothing to get in the way. Your 72' short bed will be a great
project also. Those were quite popular in my area a few years ago but
seem to have faded here for some reason. My first semi-build was a 76'
long box. My son and I did it together when he was 15. He's now 31.
Congradulations to you and your wife on first time Grandparents. It's
pretty cool to see your family grow. My son has 3 kids. His oldest (girl)
is in kindergarten and comes to our machine shop almost every day after
school to help Grandpa. I guess I wore her out one day last week. She
dissapeared and this is how I found her at her Daddys' desk.

Thanks Al, Im looking forward to the little one's arrival and have work already for him or her in the garage as well.. When I was growing up my grandfather and father had me working with them in the garage at the age of four and continued, so it wasnt so bad.

I see the your little one is on a union break, :beers:. I will post more pics as the project comes along, now that my wife is going to have me go shop for some baby furniture for our home.. Man the new little one is already taking my money, oh well he or she better be ready to weld,

Be safe.

Well I was not feeling comfortable with the way the trunk pan and floor were coming together. I needed to construct a base for the rocker panels on the jig, so I mounted the car on the jig and was glad that I did.

Image
.

What I found that the 5/8 pins on the front of the frame rails were approximately 3/16 off, so this might explain the match difficulty i was have. I will correct the problem on the mounting points and have the jig in spec with the body.

I was just about to start tacking metal together when I noticed the problem and was not to happy, but that come with the errors of life. Oh I also found that my tape measurement tip end was loose and that was made it worst

If anyone needs any measurements, I have taken damn near any measurement on the car for angle to different angle.
