Get a helper putting the bumper on.
DONT even attempt on your own..
2 ppl OK... 1 one each end, and another bolting best.
Bolt the brackets on to the bumper .... and alighn on the slots on the end of the chassis rails
Like above, painter taper (we call it masking tape) on the edges of the bumper , couple layers AND on the body, espec each end.

A door one can do ok with an axle stand on your own....bumper DONT.
Rem Murphy is your best friend IF u listen to him....If not, He WILL screw it up.

Plan on installing and removing it a least once. I left the center brackets loose as they are slotted for side to side adjustment. I put it on, bolted the corners, then bolted the centers. Tighten the accessible center bolts then remove to get the last two.

They are marked left and right and only go on one way.

Don't torque the bumper bolts any tighter than really necessary. You might crack the new chrome.
An old trick we use on old vintage cars is a thin copper shim between the chrome and bolt head that goes around the square base of the head....
But if u mark or crack the chrome...u have a cheap, ill prepared chrome job..ppl taking short cuts in the process.

How do the front turn signal wires run with the clips, on top or bottom of the bumper brackets.
They actually run on the bottom as the original brackets have wire clips to hold them in place. I have one clip in place if you need a pic.

Another thought about the bumper brackets . . .

If they are original then they likely fit the inner contour of the bumper like hand in glove, but check to be sure that is sets in there nicely such that it does not rock and that any gap can be easily taken up without drawing the bumper down with the bolt (mentioned earlier).

New aftermarket brackets do not fit the inner bumper contours very well and can dimple the bumper outward when it point loads as you tighten it. You would need to shape, (grind off), high spots on the bracket so it fits nicely to the bumper.

Bracket fitting should be done prior to chroming. Take your time and be patient.
