It's been quite some time since I had any Camaro progress to report. The body is basically ready for finishing. Winter is not a good time for that so I've been doing mechanical work. I rechecked the subframe to rear end diagonal measurements. It's within an 1/8" so I'm pleased with that. Installed new fuel tank, filler neck and line. I used CHQ filler neck and it was dead on. The gas cap even sits straight now so very pleased there. Installed complete new brake system converting to power front disk. I'm changing from a "3 on the tree" to floor shift auto so I'm swapping out the column. The replacement column needed a little tlc and color change so working at that now. Nothing earth shattering or really picture worthy but progress none the less. I keep finding little things to do, researching and ordering more parts although I've tried to use original pieces where possible.

Happy New Year guys. It's been some time since I last posted but I have made some progress on the car. This was a new experience for me as I have never done any upholstery work. Here's a couple pics of the passenger seat with TMI Sport covers installed. Not a mind boggling job but boy is it tough on my arthritic hands.

That seat looks great Al! As I am facing the 4th surgery on my old right hand I understand your pain. A great upholsterer taught me a few tricks that make it easier, though not easy. Zip ties! First he said put everything in the sun to warm it up and soften the material before starting, or use a heat gun on low setting. Put a blanket on the ground and have someone stand on the frame to compress everything. Use a bunch of zip ties to first position the cover, then incrementally tighten the cover all the way around to snug it up tight. Then go for the hog rings, as now you only have an inch of foam to deal with instead of the whole thing, which for me always slid out of position on the 1st 2 rings lol. Not sure of your process but it obviously worked well!

Happy New Year

Thanks Matt & Jeff. I used a combination of zip ties
and hog rings. Hot sun is not possible in Iowa this time
of the year so I sparingly used a heat gun and small
space heater as needed. Based on this experience I have
to say TMI makes a high quality product and I really
like the look.

Finished the back rest for the rear seat. Boy was this a
pain. Having never done this before I don't know if it
was me or the cover. Just like the bottom section there
is no formed foam like the front buckets. If there was I
think it would be an easier project. Anyway, I got it
done. Just have to wait for some warm sunshine to
hopefully remove a few wrinkles. I've been using
Photobucket to post pics and it's getting terrible to deal
with. Anyone have a good alternative ?
