I looked at them when researching a 350 long block (before going the LS route). I think I found them on eBay originally. I found both positive and negative reviews for them, but nothing outstanding.

In the end, I went with an LS dropout from a place that specializes in them near me.

I got an LS pullout as well. I can't get Mabbco's website to pull up, but unless you're planning on going really extreme with your build, a junkyard/pullout motor will be fine.

I'm just starting budget research.
1st build so pretty green on the details still. Starting with a solid shortblock however sounds like a good place to start but I agree I need to keep looking.

 

I will say that I should have just bought a short block, regardless of whether it was new or a junkyard engine. I ended up stripping down to a short block, swapping cam, heads, intake, replaced all sensors, new wiring harness, new alt, new starter, new PS pump, new water pump...

My advice is figure out what you want before you pull the trigger on anything. Oh, and double your budget.

 

Hello guys. I live about 45 mins from mabbco engines in Tyler tx. I have some personal exp. with them I have pick up and installed several of there engines from v6 to v8, about 6 engines I think. No problems with any of them. I have toured there shop and they do good work. You can even upgrade parts i your engine, pistons, crank etc. my friend just had a reverse rotation ford 351 engine from them rebuilt and he installed it and been on the lake now for a few months with mo problems. I and several people I know have all had great experiences with them. I haven't heard anything bad and there engines are sold at the local part stores also. I wouldn't hesitate to use them for a short or long block.

I would stay away from Mabbco. My experience was horrible. You might get a decent build. If you don't, the "warranty" is written to keep them safe from their own mistakes, not for the customer. They may have been a decent builder in the past. Those days are long gone. The block they sent me was junk.

Here's their "warranty". Read it carefully and consider why it would be so restrictive. If there is a problem (mine was found BEFORE install, thank goodness) you will be required to pay shipping back to them for them to determine whether they are at fault. They remedy at their discretion. You are also on the hook for shipping back.

WOW. After reading these reviews I'm feeling lucky. Company sucks. do not do business with them. Your going to be disappointed. Ordered my long block April; 5th, and was told 3 months. Well at 3 months I started calling. Was told 2 weeks, then another 2 weeks, then a few more days. Well called again on Aug. 25th. was told we think its done but cant find it. Was called back yesterday and Austin informed me that my motor cannot be found. They don't have another core motor, and it will be another 3 to 4 months after they find one. After explaining to Austin that their next communication for me would be from my attorney, I got a full refund credited by close of business day. I can only imagine what position I'd be in should I have used cash or check. There is no option for zero or negative stars. So please disregard the single star I have to use to post this.
COMPANY IS NOTHING BUT LIARS, CHEATS AND THIEVES. I feel lucky I got a refund instead of junk product

Any engine rebuilding company that only offers 90 days is a huge red flag! They also have a 1 star bbb rating and numerous open complaints. IMO, Literally you’d be safer buying a junkyard engine then one from them! Will likely last longer too!
