Will be pulling the Engine, Transmission, and heater box out of a 68 Camaro Convertible.

Can someone recommend correct sequence of parts to remove? I tried searching on it but came up empty?

I might suspect?

  1. Battery
  2. Hood
  3. Bumper
  4. Front Grill and Headlight assembly
  5. Lower valance
  6. Left and Right Fender
  7. Left and Right Inner Fender
  8. All Hoses and Wire Connections
  9. Drive Shaft
  10. Radiator
  11. Heater Box

I know a lot of you don't remove all this just to pull an engine but since I have to remove the passenger side inner fender to remove the Heater Box I might as well make it easy for my self and remove everything else since I will be pulling and install the engine and transmission by myself.

Thanks in advance.

Are you removing the radiator support?

Hood latch
Horns
Wiring

Imho making a lot of unnecessary work for yourself and putting it all back together and getting all the panels aligned will involve a lot of work.

I would simply pull the hood and the right fender with inner fender attached and leave the rest of the front clip alone.

It is very easy to pull an engine and transmission with the front clip in the car.

Was thinking it might be unnecessary work, but working alone and will be putting an LS3 with a 4L60e in later on and wanted that to go in without issues?

I took the hood off of mine and then removed the whole front clip in one piece. It wasn't that difficult. You'd need, at a minimum, one extra set of hands. I had one friend help pull the clip off. You also need a pretty large space to store it, unless it was going back on right away. I was doing a little more then an engine and trans swap though, and not much of the original clip ever went back on the car. I pulled the clip apart later on.

I just pulled the clip on mine. After hood and battery tray, I removed the fenders with inners attached. I left the entire grill and valances assembly on the core support and then removed that as a whole. it's far more difficult to disassemble the grille and valances on the car than off.
Obviously, I had detached all the wiring from the fenders and engine and unplugged the harnesses from the fuse block before pulling fenders and then core support. I did leave the harness on the support until it was off and on a table to further disassemble to bare core for powder coating.

At that point, it isn't very difficult to remove the entire sub frame with the engine/trans intact, although it requires a trolley (floor) jack under the rear crossmember to roll it out. You only need to remove the fuel and brake lines from their frame clips and disconnect them from the fuel pump and distribution block. Remove front e-brake cable and trans shift linkage, steering rag joint.
