Well , nothing interesting with the back window, it just decided to start working again,go figure.

I had mentioned the brakes were kinda working , I couldnt build up any signifigant pressure after gravity bleeding and two man bleeding , I kinda felt it was the MC as my brake light wasnt coming on until the very end of the pedal travel.(lights are hooked to MC not the old underdash switch)

I understood the bench bleeding process , however I never quite understood how the MC would know if it was on the car or clamped in a vice... , here is why. If its not level(IE on the car) , air gets trapped somewhere in it , once I leveled out the MC by nosediving the car and rebleed it , all sorts of air came out ,and viola , brakes work great.

finally broke down and order a VA unit , I heard the center dash vent in the VA unit is not so great , so I ordered the repro vent and a VA for an AC car. This may have been a mistake , I didnt realize the fan control is completly different for an AC/VS no ac car

First thing I did was break the lever ... I guess this is common

Classic industries sells a new one , but i dont have time to wait , so I applied some skills I learned back in the african engineer core
I made a splint and used some JB weld , should hold as the VA switches replace the cables and have very little resitance

Image

The repop center vent just seems to roll around in the VA register thingy , so some more rigging.

I put some little peices of tube as bushings , then I used a couple of those useless lower windsheild molding clips to make some hold downs

I wired up the VA unit on the bench , everthing seems to work fine , the fan works (FYI it is varible speed) ,the blend works , but looking at the pic I dont recall the AC compessor relay clicking or if the heater flow valve opened.. I read the ECU is different for the AC/Non ac cars , so worst case i will have to order a AC control center. I just need a heater for now to get the car certified as road worthy and get registration.

Install was pretty straight forward , Summitt didnt have the bulkead connector I wanted so I used the hard lines through the firewall ,although for some reason I had ordred different cooling hard lines , they came out in a different location the the stock ones , I made a plate to cover them where they went through the firewall

Nelson, great job on the VA. I ordered and installed the inline bulkhead and have to say what a PITA to route the heater hoses. I probably spend 100 bucks already on fittings, hoses etc, still NG. Just bit the bullet and ordered Aerquip fittings and hose with o ring to AN adapters.

lol yeah DT I hear you , VA had a complete kit I wanted but summit had no stock , I tried to make an order piece by piece but just looking at all the different fittings and options was causing my brain to melt

Well I got a repreive on my june 10 deadline of using the car for the kids grad , his date didnt want to try and struggle in and out of the car(rollbar makes it kind of tough) , or risk messing up her hair with the top down ,se we decided to use the GT-37 instead. our local car show in on june 17 so I got another week to get this thing road worthy.

I got a good start on the convertable top , not quite done but its going to be down for the show anyway.

It ended up being an uphill battle , my tack strip came all bent out of shape

Nothing really magical about getting this on , its just staple, check, remove, restaple, check about 50 times. It definatly helps getting it out in the sun.

Pretty much how I am going to leave it for now ,it looks perfect when its down and the boot is on lol

I also needed to get a PCV system installed , the GMPP valve covers looked pretty well baffled , I did install a catch can just to be on the safeside , also had to grind out a hole in the valve cover to get an oem PCV valve in there.
