Hello all. Has anyone ordered from this company? I have ordered all of my parts from Rick's First Generation Camaro. A freind who is restoring his 70' Camaro has given me their catalog. Thye have some pretty good prices on some of their stuff. Are they a good company to order from? Any bad experiences?

Thanks as always.:)

i've purchased from them... nothing bad to report.

i've had a couple issues but they took care of everything to my satisfaction. my car took 7 years to build so there's bound to be an issue here and there... but like i said i never had a problem that wasn't handled properly and to my satisfaction.

i have a website, www.JollyRodder.com it's mostly ChevyII/Nova info but a lot of the restoration suppliers handle Camaro stuff too... if you'd like to take a look, check the "Restoration Suppliers" section and click on the links ;)

maybe it'll be of use to you.

hope i helped,

JR

I bought a bunch of stuff from them before. Their catalogs are certainly big and full with all kind of stuff. IMO, all good with the exception of crazy shipping costs. I think a bunch of guys here will agree that the shipping costs are ridiculous. They do run 20% off specials all the time and that's when I place my orders as the discount makes up for the high shipping costs. Usually guys will post their discount codes on here so everyone can use them. Last special was free shipping over July 4th but that's all done with (I think).

I have ordered interior parts from them in the past. I had no issues with the process, but the pieces I got where mostly made by OER and figment wasn't very good. I have ordered from yearone, and have had less fitment issues. Some of their vendors are the same, I know. Yearone is pricey though.

The only issues I had are getting parts that were obvious previous returns and had problems, but were re-shelved anyways. They are more than willing to work with you, they have great customer service but sometimes I didnt/couldnt wait for a part to be exchanged and had to live with the issue.

ive placed a couple orders thru them with no complaints. there shipping is high but like someone said, they give out discounts all the time. they also have a classic industries credit card that gives you a discount of either 10 or 15%, cant remember which. also, alot of the times, the discount dont apply to certain items.

Part of what I am ordering is the Windshield trim and back glass trim. I am concerned with fitment. I do not have a show car by any stretch of the imaginatinon, but it is in nice shape. I should probably pay the extra $ and get the best quality for this particular area of the car since it is an area that is immediately seen. I will try them on some other things.

If you are ordering glass trim stick with the OE stuff. It's much better pieces compared to aftermarket. I've found they are pretty easy to locate also. Just polish them a up little and you'll be much happier.

I have use Classic since 1982....they where called Classic camaro back then.
Remember Im in NZ...
Pre internet they where excellent, I could order anything from a window roller to a radiaror, air frieght and would be here in 4 to 5 days, if there where no public holidays

Now it is about 3 weeks for "urgent " stuff

One orders on line, "urgent" then they , without telling you, send out a confirmation in the mail....that has to be signed and sent back....this is over and above the email confirmation, and even if you have been a customer without any issues for over 25 yrs!!!

Its like the left hand (a/cs) and the right hand, Dispache have no idea what is going on.

I did have an issue about 5 yrs ago, ordered carpets, hood liner , door trunk seals and a few other bits and peices...
The above happened, Then only some of the boxes arived...turned out the other 2 went to Vancouver, not New Zealand...after a bit of BS, they found them blamed the freighters, but when arrived a few days later, dispache had some how addressed them wrong???

Classic discounts do not include anywhere out side the US
Classic do give any preference to loyal customers of over 25 yrs....who still have their orginal customer code #
Nor will they consider crediting a customer if the order is urgent, and takes 3 weeks becuase of their snail mail, and nothing to say about snail mail confirmation.

I still use classic, simply because it takes too long and is far to expensive to ship from other parts of the US to LA, then ship from there to NZ

I only order from them when they are offering a discount. Otherwise I find their prices too high when I factor in their high shipping costs.

Remember that you won't have to pay the state sales tax on orders from Classic that you are paying now.

I pretty much comparison shop between Rick's and D&R Classics (www.drclassic.com), and stuff coming from D&R's ebay store (drclassiccom) usually has free shipping and is the same price as their catalog stuff. If I need several things, I'll build the order on both sites and see who is cheaper on the total order. The one thing I hate about D&R is that if you place an internet order instead of calling and the part is backordered, they just cancel that part from the order so you don't know until you receive the order. I'm trying to cut all human contact out of my life so I never call.

And as far as I'm concerned, everyone's shipping is too high. Everyone went up when gas hit $4+ a gallon, now it's been down to half that for a long time and shipping costs are just pootin' along still up there.

My only complaint about Classic is that all there best big ticket stuff is discount exempt and thus not eligible for their 20% off sales :-( Other than that I've been happy with their quality and selection.

For people on the west coast Classic ships pretty fast. I normally have orders in hand within 2-3 days since they are in LA. Ricks takes on average 7-10 days from Atlanta. Summit Racing stuff comes from Sparks,NV and I get the next day which is way cool.

I have ordered majority of things I need for my 68 from them and never had a problem. There shipping is high, but I found out once you do start purchasing from them they will start sending specials to you now and then, 20% off or free shipping. Here's another place that has decent pricing that I've purchased from http://jimdyerchevyclassics.com/, but don't know what there shipping charge is, I have only purchased from them at a show or at their store. If you call them talk to Joanna not to Jim, he's a crabby old man...

I haven't seen Jim in 20 years or so, but he was always pleasant and helpful when I talked to him. He had some really nice NOS parts I needed. He was the first guy that told me what the Z10 on my car meant.

Their shipping is too high. (prob helps their profit margins ;) )
I "circular file" their 20% specials because there's hoops to jump through to get it, then the shipping charges kill the 20%.

Firewheel Classics and Ground Up. Excellent service from both of them. Real shipping charges too.

Classic Inds. and Year One seem to be on the higher end of the pricing and shipping scale. I only use them if I need someting nobody else has

I ordered quite a bit when restoring my 68 firebird - most of the stuff was of good quality but do make sure you go through it when you recieve it and if there are any problems bring it to their attention quickly- that said the problems I had were- emblems either packaged incorrectly or broken, mirrors ( ended up getting 2 driver sides and did not get around to installing them for a couple of months so now I have an extra driver side) and it seems like they will nickel and dime you to death-I dont mean to get on a rant but charge me the extra 20 cents and include new speed nuts for the emblems if I dont need them no biggie, but if I did need them now I am out more time and shipping costs- just my .02
