With the ignitor 11, you will need to run a switched 12 volt wire to the positive side of the coil, place the resistor and the yellow wire taped up in the wire loom. Did you buy the ignitor 11 coil as well? I just switched to the ignitor 111 and coil, so Far so good. I like the crane xri, as you still use the resistor wire.

Thanks Morgan. The guy who did my distributor said that with the Ignitor 2, I can run a stock coil or Ignitor 2 coil. 2 wires come out of the distributor, one to positive and one to negative. I am not sure which coil I am going to use yet. I like the idea of good spark with a fairly stock looking coil.

Fan Shroud Update August 14, 2012

I ordered a fan shroud from GM since they still stock the original part, or so I thought. I already had a used fan shroud, but I thought a nice shiny new one would look better since it is such a visual part under the hood. Think again my friend. I think the used one I had is in better shape and looks better. The used one I bought previously cost a quarter of the cost of the new one.

This is the part number from the new one

Can you tell the difference? Which one is the new one and which one is the used unit.

Is there a prize if we get it right? ;)

The used one is the bottom one in the 3rd picture down.

Just wanted to drop in and say I love what you have done with your car! Very nice! Clone or not I would be very proud to drive that anywhere. Nicely done.
Thank Greg I appreciate it. Can't wait to finish it off this winter. God be willing of course!

You do take great pictures. Here is my Camaro. As you can see I don't have your photography talent! :) I am for the most part done with the exception of minor projects. Proud to say all the work was done myself.

Really nicely done and it sounds great. Very well done indeed. I will call you next week when I am in Squamish. Hopefully I can get a picture of it then.

Thanks Todd. Just quick snaps with my iphone, which I hate for taking pictures. I find I cant get a good shot with it. The pics always look blury to me. The rest of the grandma build will be documented with my old Camera, that is only a camera. Now I need to creep over to your thread and see what you have been up to...

 :) :D

Clutch Fork Update August 18, 2012

Here is a new clutch fork I ordered through GM. No part number

Image

Here is the clutch fork I had that I thought was correct. Has part number stamped on it.

Image

Here is an original GM Clutch for. The new one I ordered is very close to the same, however the rivet used to hold the retainer in is different. No part number stamped on it.

Image

Here they are together. From left to right. Original one. New one, wrong one.

Image

Notice quality of the retainers. New one in the middle is poorest quality and will require some modification.

I've been meaning to make my own thread with the pics I have. Anyway, my Camaro was the first car I bought when I was 19 (I'm now 42). A guy in my hometown had it and I remember seeing it around town even when I was pretty young. Those RS headlight doors always caught my attention. I pestered the guy who currently owned it for months always asking him when he was going to sell me his car. Well one day he asked me if I still wanted to buy it, needless to say the deal was done pretty quickly. Car was mine for 2k. I still remember my Dad telling me how stupid I was, he's changed his mind now . Anyway, 23 years later finally all the major stuff is done and proud to say I did all the work myself :beers:

Grandma Then & Now

This helps fuel my motivation to get it completed, one step at a time...

The name of my thread should have been "How to Restore a 69 Z 28 Clone backwards". As the "Source" often jokes with me. His famous quote, referring to my car restoration is. "Step One. Paint Car". I still get a kick out of it every time he says it, because he is right. I guess in the long run I would have been better off doing it all at once and in sequence, but hey what fun would that have been. This way I can drag this restoration out for years... Next time I will consider the obvious and sensible.

Purchased July 2010
